,. , -- of 'ww . Freshman Initiation Did we look like that? Did we act that silly? Yes, that was the conversa- tion among the upperclassmen as we, the Freshrnan class came straggling into the halls of B, I-l, S, Wednesday, September 12, l95l, After everyone had pinched himself to make sure he was really awake, we knew that the poor green Freshrnen were practically doomed for the day, Initiation Day , Obeying the orders of our mighty superiors, the Sophomore class, we tremblingly came dressed in a wide variety.of clothing, Johnny Hawkins looked like Miss America with his pretty petite legs arrayed in shorts to display their loveliness, Ralph Oster with his skillet, made a picture of a typical home loving lady, His sunbonnet not only kept the sun from his eyes, but helped hide the tell tale blushes that crept ac ross his face from time to time, Wearing her housecoat and dad's shoe, Patsy Jones certainly appeared sleepy, Jackie Turner must have been even sleepier than Pat, He didn't manage to get his housecoat, He was still attired in his pretty pink pajamas, I-le carried his alarm clock to be sure he would wake up in time to leave class, Kathleen was surely wanting to work as she was dressed in work clothes, and carried rocks. Undoubtedly she was thinking of graveling roads, or could it have been a drive- way? Carl Wiseman, the sweet young thing, attracted the Senior boys, but after closer inspection it was revealed that it was only Carl dolled up in a dress and plenty of make-up, lVlyI Leona you were not that old, Did you really need a cane ? After all with your dress on wrong side out one can never tell, Boone Hawkins carried a bushel basket, a handy gadget for carrying all those upper- classm'en's books to and fro, When night came, blisters were plentiful on the boys' feet, having worn ihigh heeled shoes all day, At six o'clock the Sophomores took us over the last road of initiation before we could be admitted as full-fledged tigers and tigerettes, The road contained mud, cinders, tubs of water, and airplane rides, After receiving due punishment all were treated to a well earned and deserved meal, To end a hashed up day of fun, surprises, and misery all were escorted to Shelbyville to the show, Blondie's Secret , We are now proud and happy to be called full-fledged tigers and tigerettes of B, H.
