Sophomore Class August 27, 1951, found ten merry Sophomores, eager and ready to begin their second year of high school life, The class was very happy to welcome Jean Long from the Monroe City High School as one of the ir group, In October the class lost a very dear classmate, Patricia Sorrell, who moved with her parents to Palmyra, Missouri, Her pleasing personality and studious ways have been greatly missed, Class officers chosen for the year were: Janis Smoot-President, Dorothy Houseman-Vice-President, Elizabeth Gibson-Secretaryg Jean Long-Treasurer, Louise Waite and Ruth Estes-Reporters, Mrs, Logan was chosen sponsor, The class retained its motto, Life Is Like A Picture, so Paint It Well, its flower, the red roseg and its class colors, blue and white, that were chosen at the beginning of their Freshman year, The Sophomore class initiated the 1951-'52 Freshman class, They chose and sponsored Jean Long as their carnival queen candidate, Jean, who was escorted by Weldon Allen, ranked fourth in the contest, Three girlsg Dorothy Housman, Jean Long and Louise Waite assisted the Freshman class in the presentation of their play, A Ready-Made Family, Janis Smoot was a permanent member of the girls' basketball team and assisted them in winning two trophies, L4
