Needless to say, these new buildings have greatly altered and improved life on our campus. There- fore it is to this new Bethel and to its new spirit of growth and to the even bigger and better Bethel of the near future, that we dedicate this 1961 LOG CABIN. kak ee wagazy Ress : : a nr with a peg brief reminders of ed wallow in which he_partici- se rea (er=1 a) lay serve to stimulate er eo mory; ioe le Shela ‘ex-maas “es Tx ae any Malle aa lae eS rae We ‘also tealize that ale book may’very well be eh ee. aia the hands of one-who is neither student nor alum- _nus, but who wishes to learn about life at Bethel sith eS from a pages. As | write this | look about me and see stacks of photographs, papers, and old annuals, | think back over this past year’s work, and | wonder whether or not we'll make the final deadline on time. In spite of the work and the headache, | have really enjoyed editing this annual. Naturally some (maybe many) of its features will disappoint you, but | hope, all in all, that you find this annual satisfactory. | have not tried to please everybody, for th f is impossible; nor have | always been able to please myself. There are many things about this book that | would change, if it were possible. Never- theless, | hope we will find many hours of pleasure in the mem- ories this book will always conjure. He was second high in scoring. Joel Collins—Rutherford, Tenn. Guard 5'10’—155—Sophomore Joel did not see much action after being injured in the Austin Peay game. Joel is a dead shot at the foul line. Clennon Dailey—Emerson, Arkansas Guard 5'10’—170—Sophomore Clennon’s second year with the cats. He has a sensational jump shot and is one of our better ball hand- lers. Dan Henry—Rutherford, Tennessee Center 6’4”—200—Junior A transfer from Freed-Hardman, Dan gave the Cats fine rebounding strength. Dickie Denton—Paducah, Kentucky Center 6’6”—230—Sophomore Dickie, the biggest man on the team, held his own in rebounding and scoring for the Cats. He will be counted on for a good performance next year. Jesse Powers—Atwood, Tenn. Center 6’7”—190—Freshman Jess will be counted on more in years to follow since he is a Fresh- man. He was a brilliant Freshman player. Lyndle McCurley—Calico Rock, Ark. Guard 5'9”—155—Junior Lyndle, a transfer from Beebe, was also a consistent player with his deadly jump shot. He will be count- ed on for more fine play next year. Paul Newmon—Mason Hall, Tenn. Forward 6’3 —180—Senior Paul, a Senior, was injured at mid-season. He was the team’s lead- ing rebounden and one of the high- est scorers when his broken hand stopped his career. Jim Webb—Viola, Arkansas Forward 6'4”—210—Junior Also a transfer from Beebe Jr. College, Jim was counted on for his timely tip-ins. He will be counted on again next year. Bud Newmon—Mason-Hall, Tenn. Manager This was Bud’s second season with the Cats. His steady and de- pendable work help make the sea- son possible. Big Dan Henry goes up, controls tip, and the season gets underway. Newmon collects one of his many rebounds against Belmont in his last game for Wildcats. Chance goes high into air to score over stubborn Belmont defense. Denton lets loose with deadly accuracy against Governors. ABOVE LEFT: Webb drives through Union defense to score for cats. ABOVE RIGHT: Carey, leading scorer for the wild- cats, totals two more on a driving lay-up. BELOW LEFT: Jesse scores on a driving hook shot in game with Union.
