Each student assists an experienced pastor and gains actual experience in pastoral work. ln this way he is prepared to fulfill his call to the ministry. 27 Spreading the Gospel tllrouglr Serviced, T im, t. W5 '- .VY ln the Christian Service program of Bethel College, stu- dents regularly attend 30 different Sunday Schools and Churches to perform such services as Sunday School teacher or superintendent, Assistant Pastor, Youth Lead- er, .lunior and Primary Church Leader, Song Leader, and Pianist. Beside their specific duties many of these stu- dents help in visitation activities and in many other ways contribute their talents to the church's program. There are 24 students teaching classes and 3 assisting teachers in 17 different Sunday Schools and 5 students have the responsibility of Superintendent for a department of the Sunday School. Ten students are engaged in Youth work in local churches, and seven students conduct primary or Junior Church services each week. Another capacity in which thirteen students are using their talent is as song leader or director of music, also, at least six students participate in church choirs. Other musical ability is ex- ercised by five students serving as pianists and two as organists. 28 Qwpslelllll E' 'S An average school year of Gospel Team work includes traveling 20.000 miles, participation in 200 services besides Sunday Schools with fifteen different denominations. This work is done by about forty students who participate as speakers, instrumentalists, or vocalists.
