4 The 1984-85 school year at Bethel college will evoke memories of many different things. For some students the school year will remind them of their first struggles for a higher education, for others the year will represent the last step in the battle with the books. Students, faculty and patrons will remember the tremendous football season for the Threshers in 84. Others will recall their experiences in traveling abroad during Interterm. Many will just remember the good times shared with friends. We hope that your memories and experiences at Bethel College will lead you to bigger and better things in your quest as you go. . . President Harold Schultz leaves the office to come support the football team. Bruce Wetzel lets his fingers do the walking through the card catalog. 6 Gail Goering relaxes In her mod after a hard day of classes. The players seem to be volunteering to get in on the action. 9 11 Deb Duncan and Astrid Egilitis ' conversation is interrupted by an intruder. Carmen TVoyer comes to the game prepared to keep the sun out of her eyes. Scott Kroeker leans back and concentrates on the big screen TV. in the recreation room. After the game against McPherson outside linebacker Eric Wiens talks over the game with friends. 13 Vic Miller does what he does best. Darla Kremer lets Emily Lehman know that there ' s a good looking guy around. Dave Penner looks to his right to see if the opponents are around. Carolyn Siemens gives a perm to a willing co-ed. Stoda 83 Interterm From New York ' s Fifth Avenue to London ' s Buckingham Palace, from the balmy beaches of Mexico to the snow of Northern Minnesota, and from the many classrooms of Bethel to the inner city of Chicago, Bethel students spent their interterm semester having a lot more fun getting credit than they usually manage to do. Between shopping excursions and sight- seeing, those on the Modern Theatre New York tour and Literary London tour saw many plays and musicals, among them T. S. Elliot ' s Cats. Trips on the more socially de- velopmental side were Urban Issues and Ur- ban Art in Chicago and Rural Development in Mexico. On these trips students were shown how to help and understand those less fortunate. Perhaps the coldest trip was the one organized Audubon Society ' s in or- der to study moose habitat in the snow of Bundled up against the cold, Duane Knoll and Ken Regler prepare for Northern Minnesota. another moose tracking expedition. Pausing for a moment in front of Windsor Castle, the Literary London group hopes to find the Queen in residence. Susan Yoder. Ryan Reazin, and Sharon Yoder display their sign and their passion while in New York. 85 Faculty Follies On March 29, the faculty members of Bethel College put on their annual Faculty Follies show. Professors and other personnel showed what tal- ent or lack of talent that they had. It was a rare op- portunity for students to see their profs let down their hair and act crazy. A favorite group of everyone ' s was the Solid Mold Dancers. Another big hit was Ronny Par- ton and the ever-present ensor. It was a night full of laughter and fun. Door prizes were awarded at the end of the show. These consisted of free pizza to home made goodies. All of the door prizes were donated by faculty members. Arlo Kasper mesmerizes the crowd with his magic. Steven K. Goering, Larry Friesen, and Nancy Banman-Bartel display grace and poise as the Solid Mold Dancers take the stage. 86 Christmas Banquet Christmas Banquet was held December 6-8 in Memo- rial Hall complete with white tablecloths, kerosene lamps, and a chandelier. Individually, two team members were rec- ognized for their outstanding contributions. The 1984-85 season at Bethel was a sea- son filled with ups and downs as the Threshers adjusted to a different coaching philosophy. Higher expectations, team goals and individual goals provided im- provement on the junior varsity level as well as the varsity team. Both teams were competitive in the nonconference and con- ference games as they faced a well bal- anced schedule. The Threshers started the season in the Mid-America Classic at Olathe and lost four games before they broke into the win col- umn against St. Mary ' s in Dodge City. The Christmas break found the Threshers 2-6 with the games being well played and excit- ing. 1985 found the Threshers winning 5 out of their next 9 games to remain in a tie for second and third place in the KCAC. A six game losing streak assured the Threshers of a second division finish as inconsistency was the team ' s nemesis in most of the games. Five seniors, three juniors, three sopho- mores, and five freshmen completed the season. The seniors were the backbone of the squad and gave the needed leadership both on and off the floor. Bryan Kroeker, James Regier, and Mark Siebert were se- lected honorable mention on the KCAC All Conference team. Mark Siebert was se- lected to play in the District X All-Star game held in Emporia.
