9 L B F P X N 'N L 9 A SOPHOMORE S DREAM EHOI D a certarn Sophomore dreamed one trme and rt was on thrs wrse He entered the oflrce of the St Paul Drspatch and found that Clar ence Brrggs was the edrtor He bought a paper and read these headlrnes Brshop G A Chrrstenson of Sweden arrrved rn New York thrs mornrng Rev and Vlrs Blank nee Alrce Gustafson arrrved on the same shrp As he walked down the street he saw thrs srgn on one of the burldrrgs St Paul School of Musrc Alphrn Conrad Instructor rn X orce He entered th burldrno and here met Carol and Dorothy Dexter Carol explarned that she xx as Professor of Englrsh Composrtron at Yale Unrversrty and Dorothy told of her work as a teacher rn Greenland At thrs pornt rn hrs dream he awoke Agarn he dreamed and he was on a trarn westbound XVhen the con ductor called out Prerre South Dakota he alrghted from the trarn Here he vxas met by Lewrs Fllrs who owned a ranch outsrde the crty When they ar rrx ed at the ranch Rosamond had supper all ready for them He found ou later that she taught school nearby and kept house for her brother The next day he left for Beulah North Dakota It was such a large town that he decrded he would lrke to see some of rts most rnterestrng places He walked down Marn street and the first burldrng he saw was a s hoolhouse He entered and was met by the Prrncrpal Phoebe Strom After a chat wrth her he boarded the tram for Hardrng Montana as she had told hrm that Arthur Gustafson was owner of a sheep ranch there H found lrfe rather unrnterestrrg on a sheep ranch so he left for Calrfornra H had heard of the beautrful scenery and the great number of chrcken farms rn th Rro Lrnda Valley so he decrded to stop there The first chrcken farm he reached was owned by Dorothy Florrn After he had seen all there was to see here he went to the Isthmus of Panama Here he was brtten by an Anophrles mosqurto and had to see a do tor He went to Dr Frances Anderson the only doctor on the rsthmus and vt hrle here he awoke He dreamed the thrrd trme and behold he was rn the beauty parlor of the Golden Rule rn St Paul fEdna Rask was head of thrs department 1 After havrng had a manrcure he went to Adolph Carlson s Tonsorral shop rn lVlrn neapolrs for a shampoo From there he went to Bethel Academy as he had heard that Ruth Dahlen was head of the Mathematrcs Department there She told hrm that Orxrlle Joh son had recerved the L L D degree from Ovford Unrversrty that Roland Erbst was rnstructor rn Physrcal Culture rn a school rn Hawarr and that Arne Johnson w s cartoonrst for the Mrnneapolrs Journal It pleased hrm very much to hear such good thrngs about hrs old classmates and he left the academy feelrng xery happy Along the street he saw a large poster urth Rudolph Endbom s pr ture and these words on rt See the champroa skater of the xx orld tonrght at the Hrppodrome On Sunday he xx ent to hurch and was delr hted to Hnd that Helen Johnson was leadrng chorrster there l xx as announced that Alree Larson Prrvate Secretary to the Goxernor of Cuba would speak at 1 Busrn ss NVomen s luncheon the followrng day At thrs pornt he xx as au akened and hrs dream end d Thus he told rt to Frzaxcrss Axomsox P rl I T- l 25-TH? lf' 1-.Y' 'AL-1 25 Alf- J i wif i v ' in v - Wi i if i H iii -5 Q l .
