Renee Lash said she'd be here after she finished shopping. Kari Harmon is in another room watching Friday the 13th part XXI. Hope it's not too scary, because Kari's a long way from the bathroom. Bob Orris is outside showing off his very own limosine which he drove from his very own airport which he land- ed at in his very own jet, all of which his parents got him for Christmas. Bob says that for his birthday, Mommy and Daddy are going to take him to a street corner and find him his very own girlfriend. jody Bates is over in the corner talking to some guys. Wait a minute, those guys are from Sullivan! She'd better get them out of the house, because here comes the destruction duo, Darryll Shut Me Up Kelly and Tim Whatcha Going To Do, Kick My Butt? Moore, and we all know how they feel about anyone from Sullivan. Sheli Wizo-Waty and Susan Vilmure are here tonight. They are currently running around a successful hair salon called Blondes Have More Fun. Darrell Hacksaw Reynolds is demonstrating his new cough suppressant. It really works, because he hasn't had a Hack Attack all night. Dean Utsler just came in. He has bought the Hickory Point 6 Theaters so he can watch movies whenever he wants. jill Miller and her husband, Roger, are going to be a little late. They have trouble finding babysitters for their 18 kids. David Hagerman has finally been taken over by his Mr. Rogers personality. He was arrested while going up to little boys and asking them if they would like to come over to his house and feed his fish. Poor Margaret Bromm has broken her glasses tonight and can't see a thing. Hey, Margaret! That's not your coke glass, that's Jeff's spitoon! |ohn Alexander, Seaman 1st class, is here on leave tonight. He says he likes everything about the Navy except they make him shave each day. Michelle Fitzgerald is mad at her husband Chick tonight because when all the men were asked to use one word to describe their wives, all Chick could say was Cheep Cheep. Linda Boomer is showing of her bestseller book, I Did It My Way in which she disproves the quadratic equation, the laws of exponents, the Pythagorean Theorem, and other famous mathematical formulas. Rob Dickens has arrived at the party. It seems he ran out of gas and had to walk four miles to get here. The graduating class of 1984 is holding their 20th year reunion at Danny Snyder's hospitable home. After learning a few moves from Diane jenkins, a Double Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, Danny has finally done something about Tony Moon bugging him all these years. Don't worry Tony, the ambulance will be here soon. Chuck Grove nas just returned from his job as a roadie for Hall and Oats on their world tour. He now plans to resume the work on his latest Dirty Harry novel entitled Yeah, Take It. lana Foster, the famous Fox Harbor lifeguard, is telling us all how she dragged Paul Hands Nation in from drowning, jana said it would of been a lot easier to save him if he could have caught the life preserver she threw to him. But, Paul thought it was a football and of course, it bounced right out of his hands. Chris Brewer refused to attend our party tonight because she didn't have the right pair of shoes to wear to a class reunion. There's Rhonda Gregory. She has become a ski instructor at Lake Geneva and hasn't run into a fence for 20 years. Where's Kelly Adams and Abby Ford? Oh, they're outside gazing at the moon, thinking back to our senior class trip when the moon came out unexpectedly for them and glowed with an unusual beauty. Darin Mel Yarnell is here with nis beautiful wife and children. You would think Darin would be the last person in the world to settle down and raise a family, but he says he has given up his wild and rowdy days of high school. However, his wife still can't figure out why he gets a Christmas card from Sullivan Package Liquor every year. David Bone is really rolling in the dough. He makes commercials for razor blade companies because he's the only person they could get who always shaves more than once a day. Wow! Look who just walked in! It's Tamra Sounds Like A Prop From A Science Fiction Movie Lillico, that voluptuous vixen who was this year's Playboy Playmate of the Year. Everyone is crowding around her trying to get one of her autographed centerfolds. However Renee Yates, a rival model, is jealous of Tamra's success. The only job she's had was a feature in the swimsuit edition of Sports Illustrated. In all other modeling jobs, Renee was told that she was over qualified. Cara Carter is here tonight showing off her new concert T-shirt she got when she took her brother to see Quiet Riot last night. lacque Harris is showing us some of the steps to the latest Michael jackson video, which she herself choreographed. Wait! Where's that horrible demonic growl coming from? Oh, it's just Teresa Webner laughing again. The delicious roast beef sandwiches we're having tonight are furnished by Paula Hower, owner of the local Rax restaurant. loEllen Faith is here looking a year younger than everyone else. Wait a minute! What's happening? Everyone being rushed out of the house because we've just received a bomb threat. It seems that Steve Young, founder of the K.F.P.O. (Kill For Pleasure Organization), has suspected someone at the party of being a communist. The class of 1984, being the unique individuals that we are, decided to do something different for our class trip. This year we took our class trip during the middle of the week in January (how's that for being different?)- To top that off we went skiing at Lake Geneva, located in the state of Wisconsin. For most of us, skiing was a new experience. With the class divided into thirds and one instructor per group, we were ready. Most of us caught on fast and soon the beginners' hill was nothing. It was now time to move on to bigger and better things, like the next hill. The next-size hill required one to be taken up by the ski lift. The only problem now was how to get off the ski lift. Most people had some difficulties and ended up on their cheeks (and we're not talking about snow in your face). Right Buzz? Once we tackled getting off the ski lift, the next step was to get down the hill. While most of us had only mi- nor problems, one major problem did arise. I guess Rhonda didn't like the way the fence looked so she decided to do something about it, like go through it. That's ok, Rhonda, they'll bill you later. While some people make it to the pro hill, some of us decided to call it quits and enjoy the other activities at the resort. Horseback riding, swimming, playing video games, shopping, and visiting the weight-lifting room were just some of the many activities that we could and did do. Thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Overlot and Mr. and Mrs. Miller for chaperoning our trip. Believe me, it's one we'll never forget! Ante-up, gentlemen Watch the hands, Margy -? Nice threads, lana Abby, frozen into the ski stance, and the rest of the gang. 18 Something Borrowed, Something Blue What's up, Paul? ■ Kool-man Kelly Sure you have everything, Danny? So, here we are. Your normal, average, every- day, Sophomore class. We have done a great deal of growing up this year. Certain people,” however, just don't seem to think so. We are still the troublemakers; the immature brats. At least it's a step from OVER-SEXED EIGHTH GRADERS!'' We aren't as bad as everyone thinks we are. just give us a chance. Some individual achievements were gained by lana Rawlings, who won the District Spelling Bee. and Rachel Dickens and Hilary Harshman, who were elected Chapter sisters for FHA. Overall, it was a JAM 1983-84 school year. Pat nek Harrison Hilary Harshman la son Keller This year the seventh grade is the largest class, consisting of fifty- eignt kids. We asked some of the seventh graders what they thought would happen to them when they came here. As others have thought in the past years, a few kids thought that they would get lost or forget which class came next. Others thought that the teach- ers would be torturous and sinister Well, it is hard to get lost in such a small school as ours, and that fact was probably a relief to the seventh graders. We aren't. We are students who just get good grades, who are leaders, who participate in many activities and at the same time have the ability to keep our grades at a high level. Each month the NHS helps choose a Student of the Month. Then, at the end of the school year, we hold an in- duction ceremony to introduce a few lucky students into our society. Being in this society may seem like a measly honor now, but years later it will prove to aid us tremendously when we look for jobs or receive oth- er honors. The goal of NHS is not to sit back and scoff at those who are not members, but to try our very best to encourage others to realize their full potential, and to make them realize that they are just as good as we are. In Novem- ber, we made our annual trip to the Decatur Masonic Temple to see the Spanish-American dancers. Afterwards, we dined at Bonanza. Later on in the year, in April, we again watched the movie El Cid” on the VCR. Of course, we cannot forget the Spanish Club's famous yearly Christmas party It was complete with all the traditional Spanish foods, like tacos, salads, and Mexican can- dy. As we ate, we listened to the pleasur- able music of little Spanish children chiming Christmas carols in their native language. Then we all went back to the Spanish room for the most important event of the day: the breaking of the pinata. For the past two years, Kevin McReynolds was the pinata- breaker (or should we say ruthless pinata slayer). Kevin's murderous pihata-destroying techniques must have frightened the new- comers to the Spanish Club, so, we regret to tell you readers, that Kevin was not cho- sen this year to kill the pinata. But, we merely decapitated the pinata again this year, so Kevin has something to look forward to once we repair the pinata. This year, for a fundraiser, we sold every- one's favorite — M M's. We sold them once for two weeks, and once for a day. Our two-year dictatorship: Treasurer Felicia Hagerman. Vice-President Daren Nelson. Secretary Rebecca Dickens. President Todd Atkinson. None of the activities we did couldn't be possible without the guidance of our sponsor, Mr. Inman. 53 Scholastic Bowl is now in its third year at Bethany High School, and it's going stronger than ever We have more people, increasing our team's knowledge in diverse areas Scholastic Bowl has been said to resemble a television game show, and yes, it is similar However, the questions deal with school subjects, ranging from English and Sports to Astronomy and Geography Not only does a team member have to recall with split-second accuracy the knowl- edge he has acquired throughout his high school years, he must be able to remember the answers to new questions which he may have not even heard of in his whole life Therefore, the scholastic bowl organiza- tion is an excellent learning tool for students because it greatly increases their ability to recall, and it is a good way to review school subjects. Some people might think that scholastic bowl is boring, but it's hardly that. The scholastic bowl travels from town to town, meeting new people and seeing old friends. Besides, it's fun to show off how much you know about particular subjects. Also, it's great fun to smash the beepers when you want to answer, as you can ask Kevin McReynolds. However, sometimes you can give some real stupid and embarrassing answers, plunging the audience into laughter as you realize that they are all pointing at you. The beautiful Miss Ginger Walk was the scholastic bowl coach this year, and a good one at that. She held in there when the coaches from other schools tried to cheat us (which was many a time) and we really appreciated her time and effort. The Varsity Scholastic Bowl team worked very hard, and suddenly tied for second place with Niantic at the Round Robin Tour- naments. Todd Atkinson received an award for being one of five conference member individuals who answered the most ques- tions. This makes his third year of earning such an award. The lunior Varsity not only won first place for the whole season, but even first place at the Tournament Additionally, Mike Hockaday was the top player to answer the most questions out of all the other schools in our conference. He also beat that secord in the Tournament, receiving an award for answering the most questions there, too. Finally, at the end of the season, the Scholastic Bowl threw a party for themselves at Miss Walk's. What did we do there? Why, what else —played Trivial Pursuit.
