According to many of the class of '82, much of the material on the preceding page is bull and hype. While all enjoyed the World’s Fair, most agreed it was not what it was cracked up to be. Lines were very long, and few of the actual exhibits were seen. Only two people, Paul Davis and Kelly Traster, actually made it up the Sunsphere. The trip began at midnight on Thursday, the class arriving at the fair on Friday morning. That night the seniors stayed in rented trailers though no one got much sleep. The next day they were back at the fair for more rides, junk food, and dcely- boppers. Arriving in Bethany early Sunday morning, they tiredly went to their homes with many memories of a unique class trip. Watch out for those hose-monsters, Doug! 15

The 1982 World's Fair was held in Knoxville, Tennessee. The theme of the fair was energy, with the People’s Republic of China being one of the most popular. Adding to the list of famous struc- tures displayed at previous world fairs (including the Eiffel Tower, the Space Needle, and the Statue of Liberty) is the Sunspherc, a 266-foot-high, energy-efficient, five-level globe. The fair ran from May to October, with admission tickets $9.95 each for one day. 14
