DEVELOPING NEW SKILLS The point guards are Scott Martin, Steve Austin, and Greg Waggoner. Scott Martin's progress in ball handling has settled down our offense. On defense he is most likely to be seen diving for loose balls and ball hawking. Steve Austin, who is cast from the same mold as Scott, has the quickest hands on the team and leads the freshmen in scoring. Greg Waggoner is our other point guard and if the game seems sluggish we just insert him into the lineup and things automatically start to happen. The wing men are primarily responsible for defensive pressure and carrying the scoring load. Mike Carroll and Dwaine Throneburg lead the team in scoring and shooting percentage. Mike is a good jump shooter from the perimeter while in contrast Dwaine will drive to the basket. When Brett Robinson substitutes for either Mike or Dwaine, our team gains more rebounding power and does not lose much in offense. Chris Davis has improved more on of- fense than any other player and it can be directly attributed to his desire to better himself. The big men on our team are Kendall Mulvany, Bill Larkin, Mark Suddarth, Roger Doris and Bill Younger. Kendall has the toughest assignment in every game and that is to guard the tallest and best player on the other team. He consistantly gives our team a solid defense and rebounding job. Bill Larkin has improved his total game more than anyone on the team. He gets more assertive with every game. We can expect more and better things from Bill because he does not want to let his teammates down. Mark Suddarth will be seeing more playing time because he needs more experience to get the feel of playing against players his si e. Bill Younger is the most improved freshman which can be attributed to his increased aggres- siveness. Roger Doris starts on the freshman team and is responsible for doing the bulk of the rebounding. The most important lesson that this group of young men has learned is that when they step into a game they cannot give less than 100 per cent hustle and still win. It's Keebler Elf! 1st row: Roger Doris, Mike Carroll, Scott Martin, Steve Austin, Greg Waggoner. Manager Mike Beasley, Chris Davis, Kendall Mulvany, Brett Robinson, Bill Larkin, Dwaine Throneburg, Mark Suddarth, Bill Younger, Mr. Inman. 19

You Went A Long Way KabyS The Bethany Flying Fillies finished their season with a 17-10 record. The Fillies fought hard and went a long way. After defeating Sullivan and Ar- thur in the regional tourney at Sullivan, they trav- eled to Tolono for the Sectional. After a tough bat- tle the Fillies were defeated by Jamaca-Sidell 73-69 in overtime. This years Fillies went farther than any team from Bethany has ever gone. Aside from bringing home the trophies from winning the re- gional and getting 2nd place in the sectional, they also brought home trophies from 5th place in the Newton Holiday tourney and 1st place in the Areola tourney. The Fillies were led by Jodi Foster who set two state records. Her four year career total was a record 2,371 points and her season total was a record 867 points. She received the free throw award for three years and the most valuable player award all four years. She was chosen to be on the Chicago Tribune All-State Team and was selected as one of the top 15 players in the state by the Champaign News Ga- zette.
