Valedictorian Salutatorian 56 Kathy Geotz Linda Thompson 57 Beginning of the End! Statue of Liberty Senior Trip View from top of Empire State Building Senior Class Will Mary Armer leaves her limited knowledge to the freshman girls who think they know everything but could learn a lot, even from Mary. Karen Beachy leaves her used seam ripper to Betty Cochran, who we know will put it to use. Mike Bickers wills his last jar of milkworms to Linda Payne, in hopes she will someday fill her sister’s shoes. Jeff Clark wills his 21 year old look to Mike Collins hoping he has as good of luck at Art’s as he himself did. Greg Cribbet leaves his charm and way with the women to Eddie Book because he’s the only one capable of handling it. Smith Cruit leaves his handed down muscle building set to Hans Fox. Stan Dick wills his high jumping ability to Mike Parsons, who doesn’t have quite the ability but is just as good a smoker. Zane Freeland leaves his hen-pecked ways to Roger Crowder, who Sheila says is off to a beautiful start. Barry Freeman leaves his quick, snappy classroom answers to Tom Russell who we think already took them. Kathy Furr leaves her seven dates a week to Paula Cole, who is still waiting patiently for just one. Gary Gibbons leaves hiswinning way with Mr. Jarand to Brad Cribbet, who will probably need it. Kathy Goetz bequeaths the tray of ice cubes she got from Judy Bland to the underclass girls because they still have not been melted. Jim Gordon leaves his gold handled canopener to Bill Smith who, we hope, gets trickier through the years. Ron Hickenbottom leaves his love for Coach Huckstep to Danny Miller who has developed one of his own. Mike Johnson leaves his mid-day trips to the tree to Lincoln Noblitt. Nancy McCorvie leaves her smart remarks to Paul Fleschner who is the only one with an l.Q. high enough to comprehend them. Trinka Miller leaves her nickname of “Mountain woman” to Janet Ferguson, who so richly deserves it. Bruce Mitchell leaves his flaming personality to his sister (Sharon) even though he knows it won’t help. Jo Payne leaves her quiet sitting habit to any underclass girl who is going to pot. Zena Nance leaves her love for honesty in the classroom to David Snyder, who practices it as much as she does. Julie Reeter leaves her loose fitting clothes as evidence that she is not too big for her britches. Cindy Sanner leaves not only her loving and affectionate ways but also her share of the golf balls to Candy McCoy. John Schwartz leaves his sewing ability to Margaret Mcllwain, who has always wanted to be a Taylor. Pam Smith leaves her badminton ability to an unknown person who has a racket of her own. Linda Thompson leaves her intellectual speeches to Dee Wilson, who is the only one who can come close to handling them. Stan Thompson leaves his ability to drive to Ellen Fitzgerald, who doesn’t really need it. Kathy Underwood leaves her slow days and fast nights to Susan Noblitt, who’s feeling low. Terry White leaves his straight A’s in P.E. to his brother because Ricky’s just as worthy of them as he was. Kathy Zeims leaves her fantastic physique to Becky Farris, who lost her progress along the way. Barry Bubb leaves his love for the younger things in life to Punch Martin who seems to be doing all right. Doug Burrows leaves his wise remarks to Chatty Cathy, who is the only one who can repeat them as much as he does. Class Prophecy We hear that Mary Armer has completed another book, “1, a Girl”. She seems to have become an expert since her days at B.H.S. I see that Mike Bickers is living in a shack along the river bank fishing. He comes in town twice a month to sell some old stray dogs and play some pool. Kathy (Ziems) Brigluman has her own family girls’ volleyball team. Sorry, Kathy, we knew you wanted all boys! Kathy Underwood has been promoted to the rank of Admiral in the Navy. She’s making a career of it since she liked being around the Navy guys. Nancy McCorvie is now the owner of “McCorvie’s School of Etiquette”. Her specialty is teaching girls how to sit like young ladies. Trinka Miller has become a most successful bouncer at Hezzy’s. Unaccompanied freshmen are hardly seen there these days. Jo Payne has been elected as the first female truant officer in the state of Illinois. Terry and Dorothy White are making their living raising rabbits. Terry must have had the “wild Hare”. Doug Burrows, rest his soul, recently died of starvation. He just didn’t make it as a comedian. He must have used too many of his old Biology teacher’s jokes. Smith Cruit, world renowned circus weight lifter, doubles as a personal bodyguard for Cassius Clay in the off-season. Stan Thompson is the chief entertainer at his own place of business, “The Cat’s Paw”, where he tells “fantastic” stories of his childhood. Ron Hickenbottom has moved to Sherwood Forest in his quest to go nutting. Maid Peggy awaits him each night with their little hoods. John Schwartz, Bethany’s own Dairy King, is well known to all his 59 radio fans as “Sugar Shultz”. His new “Popeye dance” has become the rage. That’s funny, it wasn’t too popular in ’68! Linda Thompson is still trying to top everyone. She has sold over 2,000 FHA charm bracelets this year. We all hope some of the charm rubs off! Julie Reeter, a retired ballerina, has just been elected the first woman President of the U.S. We can look back see her start as Senior class president. We wish our country the best of luck-they’ll need it! Zane Freeland is set- ting the pace for men’s styles since he brought back his pointed shoes spit curls from high school. We hear that he made another bet about not talking somehow really lost his voice. Isn’t that a shame? Greg Cribbet has taken on a new name, Fag Brags, as he has become a famous recording star. His newest record “Boy with the Skinny Legs” is out of sight. His success must be contributed to all his practice in high school on “The Fisherman’s Daughter”. Pam Smith has become a lady taxi driver in Decatur. She can be seen most any day on Eldorado, since her tracks were engraved long ago. Cindy Sanner has seen fit to become a stewardess. She had plenty of experience on being high in her younger days. We also see that she spends her spare time in a lab with her ole physics manual. We see that Karen Beachy has taken the place of Miss Scott in the Home Ec. Dept, at ole B.H.S. She is teaching her students to do what she always had a problem with-ripping! Zena Nance finally caught married her old Dalton City flame. 1 guess he is still buying her patterns instead of dresses. Kathy Goetz is now modeling for her art classes instead of the December issue of a popular magazine. Gary Gibbons is now the owner of a chain of Standard Stations across the country. Each one is equipped with a hot line to Lovington Sullivan. Barry Freeman has become the President of a large trucking company. We asked him how it felt to have such an important position but his reply was “I don’t know”. Bruce Mitchell is now the coach of the great Effingham team-the Flaming Heads. We hear they’re the hottest team in Southern Illinois, if they could only learn to hold their temper! Barry Bubb is painting signs for Splash Mess, Inc. we hear that this sure doesn’t compare with those old 9th hour Biology trips. Jim Gordon has become Ed Sullivan’s side-kick on his new series “Frown In”. Jim always was the serious type. Stan Dick took second place in the Olympic high jump last year. He said he would have gotten first if he had a cigarette between jumps. Mike Johnson now owns a fine cattle ranch-somewhere out in Marlboro Country. Jeff Clark plays the part of wagonmaster in his own T.V. series-“Gravy Train”. Kathy Furr designs various hairpieces from genuine horsehair. “Furr’s Famous Falls” are out of sight compared with the ones she had back at Bethany. From the Reverie Staff To The Class of 1968 Good Luck and Congratulations 60 Senior History In August, 1964, 34 brave freshmen took their first dreadful steps into the halls of Bethany High School.
