The Bethany Chapter had 21 members this year. In November, they had a family night for the parents and everyone had a fine time. During the last of December and first of January the annual pest con- test was held. The winning team was treated ice cream by the losers. They also carried on Christmas Card sales, with Melvin Utsler, Jim Gaither and Dave Jackson, high salesmen. This spring the annual Father-and-Son banquet was held and awards were presented to the boys for the previous year's work. This chapter received the soil conservation award plaque this year, also during the year they bought a camera with which to take pictures of the members' projects. Dur- ing last summer, Jerry Ward played in the state F. F. A. Band and Kenneth Oathout attended the State Conservation Camp held at Lake Villa. FIRST ROW; D. Puyear, D. Boyer, B. Johnson, J. President: Marsha Miller Reporter: Doris Wampler Treasurer: Irma Faye Bland Secretary: Janet Puyear Vice President: Francene Miller The Girl's Athletic Association this year continued the policy of holding intra-mural sports during the noon hour. This year, tournaments were held in speedball, bad- minton, volleyball, basketball, deck tennis, ping pong, horse shoes, and soft ball. The activities that were sponsored by the G. A. A. this year were varied and included two hikes, wiener roast, movie party, and a party in May in honor of the senior girls. An all student Sadie Hawkins Party was sponsored by the organization. The init- iation party was held in December and con- sisted of a pot-luck supper for the members and their mothers, followed by a mock trial of the freshman girls and the formal G. A. A. initiation. Fund raising activities for this year were a chili supper in the fall and a minstrel in the spring. Miss Lucas was the sponsor for the organization.

OFFICERS: Genell Morris, Treasurer; Marjorie McReynolds, Pianist; Sharon Heckler, Reporter; Joanne Sharp, Parliamentarian; Jennie Hudson, Historian; Pat LaCost, Vice- President; Miss Marjorie Scott, Advisor; Jeanette Morris, President; Marscha Miller, Song Leader; Martha Dalton, Secretary. The 1952-53 Bethany Chapter of F. H. A. had fifty-two members, which was 100% of the girls enrolled in high school. Eighteen new members were initiated in January. Some of the activities this year were: Hobo Day; F. H. A. Week; Mother-Daughter Tea; sending gifts to Utsonomiya Senior High School, Japan; Pot Luck; Foreign Party; Easter Egg Hunt for the pre-school age children of the community; and a Mother-Daughter Banquet. Honors received from the state were: Certificates for honor chap- ter; international good will, and publicity book for Section 14. Another honor received was a red ribbon for the F. H. A. Publicity Book Win- ning second place in the state. Jeanette Morris, President, was Public Relations Chairman for Section 14.
