flash! Good evening. This is your nine o ' clock edition of the world news hot off the wires of the United Press. And here are today ' s headlines in brief. Mary Taylor, Registered Nurse, Joan Hinson, Medical Secretary and Doctor James Simpson compose the most unusual team in all medical history. They have saved thousands of lives through their experiments proving that the spread of germs is actually cut into half if you will only put on a gas mask before you kiss. Pilot Donald Sharpe and co-pilot Donald McCollum have returned from a flight to Honolulu. They originally planned to stay only a few days but, and we quote them, We just kept waiting around to see what a heavy frost would do to the grass skirts. Dot Bradshaw is the supervisor of her own private telephone company in Mayodan. Telephones no longer ring they just giggle! Doiless Jean Albert, singing star for orchestra leader David Knight, has to work from morning to night to support her shiftless husband who spends her money faster than she can bring it in. David gives rhumba lessons on the side. His instructions are simple Just throw it into reverse! Hilda Jones is Editor, Associate Editor, Business Manager, Sports Writer, and Office Girl for the Bethany Daily News. With her busy schedule, Hilda no longer has time for idle chatter. Delores and Milloway Tucker are running a twenty-four hour Kiddie Nursery. At the present, they have thirteen children enrolled. There is only one catch to the job they are all little Tuckers! Edmond Albert is featured as a hell driver for Jack Kochman. He no longer wastes time by going around tobacco barns he just runs through the flues. Geneva Sipe ' s career ended when she finished high school. On last report, she was wandering along the streets of Reidsville with her belongings tied up in a red bandanna. Lincoln Wall and Howell Gentry are now holders of the title, Best Farmers of the Year. They recently perfected an unusual plant. By the process of grafting, they are now growing blondes on berry bushes. Louise McGee is serving the end of a ten-year sentence for manslaughter. Of course, she is innocent, but she refused to break her long-standing rcord of silence by talking enough to defend herself. John Moore is as popular as it is possible for an undertaker to be. People cannot understand how John got started in such a business, but follows his friends both day and night, looking at them with a devilish grin and humming.

Qlass fiistoixj 1949=1953 Four years have passed since we entered the long halls of Bethany High School a large class of seventy-five frightened freshmen. The halls rang out the announcement of our arrival, but from mid-air Miss Lucille Bowers and Mr. David Griffin, two grim but friendly homeroom teachers, appeared to take us in hand. Carlene Joyner was chosen as our class president to lead us, the green freshmen, that year. The first few weeks greeted us with initiation and the responsibility of changing classes. Slowly, but surely, we caught on. It wasn ' t so hard after all, and Bethany was tops in our hearts. 1950=1951 Entering our second year in high school, we found that several of our members had dropped out, while Glenn Sisk was our only new classmate. Miss Lucille Vaught and Mr. Harold Pope were our advisors and George Yeatts was chosen as our student leader. That year our main social function was a chicken fry in the school cafeteria. 1951=1952 We came back to school in 1951 looking forward to a wonderful affair the Junior-Senior Prom. This was held in a Hawaiian setting at the Belvedere Hotel in Reidsville. Our leaders that year, Mrs. Louise Baker, Mr. Pope, and David Knight, had much responsibility on their shoulders. Other dates to remember were the days when our class rings came and when Mr. Joyner gave us a class party. 1952=1953 September 1952 found us a class of thirty-six dignified seniors. By this time we had lost over half of our classmates. We were very sad over the death of one of our former classmates, Carolyn Odell Moricle. Delores Cayton Tucker was our only new member. Mr. Griffin, one of our first homeroom teachers, now had charge of us all. George Yeatts was again chosen class president. The social functions of the year were the Christmas party, the Junior-Senior Banquet, a week ' s trip to Washington, and our Senior play, If Mother Only Knew. These activities drew our class closer together and made us realize even more that the twelve years we had spent together were the happiest of our lives. With this history as our background, what will our future be? — Johnna George

Dorothy Roberts is making a tidy sum as a guest writer for True Confessions. Poor Dot had such a guilty conscience that she just had to tell about her be- havior on the Blue Comet while traveling to and from ball games. Carlton Hill and Calvin Crews are traveling with a Living Freaks of Nature show. Calvin is billed as the strongest man, Carlton as the tallest. Calvin recently discared his weights he just lifts his wife, the fat lady. Carlton is living a life of solitude since he stepped on his fiancee, the midget fan dancer. Mary Rose Combs and Nancy Gray Jones are co-owners of a fleet of yachts. They have a two-weeks run off the coast of Florida called the Honeymoon Special. Of course, the girls are hopeless old maids. They are known far and wide as Battleship Jones and Steamboat Combs. Carlene Joyner is Director of Military Science and Tactics at Oak Ridge Military Institute. She is well qualified for her job because of her two years of night school along these lines. Carlene offers a written guarantee that all the students will be able to graduate within ten years. Jerlene Joyner is a widow for the sixth time. All of her husbands have died unnatural deaths but Gorgeous George Yeatts, who is willing to try, says I regret that I have but one life to give to Miss Joyner. I am sure that Evelyn Dixon and Lois Jane Purgason are raising poultry somewhere. I do not have first-hand information on these two, but I did overheard the statement that they are some chickens. Johnny Middleston is the fellow to call when your sink needs to be unstopped. Johnny got his start when he cut his teeth on a pair of pliers in his father ' s garage. Elsie Jones and Annie Lea Friddle are owners and operators of an unusual beauty shop. Their slogan is, We take the sags out of the hags. Esther Lewis is their private dummy. At the last check-up she was sporting four orange teeth, green hair and purple eyelashes. The case of Jimmy King vs. A Woman ' s Rights was being held in Supreme Court today. Poor Jimmy was being tried for kissing a girl. The accused man pleaded insanity. Joetta Forbes and Johnna George are big names in the modeling field. Their friends were very proud of them until they found that the items they modeled were red flannels instead of bathing suits, and the place was Sears instead of Montaldos. Happily married Donald Moseley, Bethany ' s outstanding dairyman, is as contented as Elsie, herself. The only ones with any complaints are the cows. Donald, out of sheer happiness, milks them ten times a day. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the news of today as seen by your favorite girl reporter, Dot Lea Chambers. And now I would like to speak a word in behalf of that miracle medicine, made, brewed, and aged by my own secret process Chambers Snake Oil Cure-All. Buy a large economy size today. A q uart is only thirty-nine cents. Just follow the directions on the bottle and I guarantee you will never live to regret it. Good night.
