AMY BELLE SIMPSON Mascot KENNETH NORMAN Mascot HISTORY As we the Seniors of 1951 near the close of our days at Bethany High School; let us look back through the pages of time and review the exciting experiences of the past. In the year 1947, a large group of students entered Bethany High School. We were to venture through four countries: Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior. In each country there was knowledge to be found before we achieved graduation. The Freshman year founX.each student timidly starting his first journey. Mrs. J. I. Sharpe and Mr. B. B. Fore were our supervisors. Mr. Fore left us at Christmas and Mr. Paul Rahenkamp took his plat One of the events of the year was a weinertpast for the class, given by the sponsors. Nine months of school soon slipped by and after a three months vacation we found ourselves entering our Sophomore year. Our sponsorsN ere Miss Lucille Bowers and Mr. James Turner. During the Christmas season Shirley Bailey gave the class a Christmas party. The biology class took a trip to Raleigh. The F. F. A. and thf F. H. A. enjoyed their yearly trip to the State Fair. Time passed on and the Sophomores soon entered in o their Junior year with Miss Lucille Vaught and Paulina Hagan as our teachers. Everyone seemed to tak greater interest in school as we neared the top of our hiJgh school education. Some of the events during the year were a Christmas party at Sudie Farrar ' s Jiouse, a weiner roast at the Battleground, a hay ride and a weiner roast given to the iss by Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Farrar. The biggest event of the year was when everyone received his class ring. This caused much excitement for us all. The next biggest evenaof th eyear was our Junior-Senior Banquet. In Y ur Junior year we also sponsored a magazine selling campaign and a brunswick stew; both proved to be a great success. As time slipped on by ™ 7 p snun hirrrrrl rhr last, hnr m nsr important country of all — Senior Country.’’ With Miss Rachel Brintle and 4fss Eulene Fisher as our sponsors great things were achieved that made the year rin enjoyable one for us all. Social events during the year werp a weiner roast given to the class by Buddy Overby, hay ride Halloween nighty frip to the State Fair, and a trip to Washington. The Seniors greatly appreciated the party given to the class by Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Farrar. Working on the annual and on the class play gave us a chance to work together and to learn many things other than facts out of books. Now we have Visited all the points of interest, toured the countries — hills and valleys- — together. iWe have seen hard times, but we the Seniors can truthfully say that we have enjoyed the past experiences to the fullest. Now in our parting moments we shall remenroer our past and look forward to a successful future. Historian FRANCES SHELTON PROPHECY ATTENTION! ATTENTION! Calling all Bethany Seniors of 1951! Calling all Bethany Seniors of 1951! Clear the atmosphere! This is Inez Albert star-gazing from her jet-propelled robot plane. My gaze is centered on thirty-two Seniors in the uncertain year of 1961. As I soar from start to star, they each whisper a little star door gossip about you varied and assorted creatures. Crash! Star one whispers the dark secret about Carlene Haynes. She is sweeping the front steps of a neat little bungalow for six called the Jones Nest.” An inflated star heaves a sigh and Buddy Overby becomes King of Warehouseme owning only thirty -six warehouses in Winsto n-Salt Edna Earl Thompson, setty Jean Ross, and Odell Goolsby are having a time thrilling all the men in Ward 10 m the brand new hospital named We Cure or Kill Em erected by their own benevolence. Two rolling stars are shaking like rNud. Inside are Bill Hall and Oscler Goins headed straight for Warner Brothers to replacesBud Abbott and Lou Costello, My plane is beginning to float, all because Frames Shelton is playing Mountain Dew” in the Waldorf Astoria in New York. Lula Mae Moore is taking time off from her job as a bathing suit model for John Powers to take care f Frances ' many requests to play such tunes as Plain ole’ Country Girl.” Jeanette Alcorn, now chief cook and bottle washer is also the Houd mother of twins. Their names are Leroy and Kilroy. A tiny little star is swelling larger and larger. Goodness! Its Pdsey Donathan pounding his chest over his great success as owner of the Do-Nothing” Shop for men. By the way, flirtatious Posey only hires bobby-soxers. No, it can t be — but it is. Ronald Pinnix and his horse Blushv a e galloping over the trail while Ronald is banging on the ole ' banjo — My Darling Jl Love ou So. You see he is now with the Bing Crosby Show. Music! Flash! Spotlight! We see the smiling face of our fr endly little Shirley Bailey as she places her glamorous self on the stage to portray of herself in Bill’s Other Wife. tlat lovable character Bethany is honored to have Donald Norman as its Agriculture teacher. He also gives lessons in Charles Atlas Muscle Toning. Paul Wilson, Dwight Moore, and Ralph Roberts are lovable characters known as: Pop, Crack, and Whoopee running their own Hadacol Rendezvous Dairy in Bethany. For fun and mirth try their own special blend of a Hadacol-Nut sundae. By the way, Carrie Carter landed that Snyder man and they are Texas bound to rake care of their numerous oil wells. Pete ' s Specialty Shop makes jewelry its specialty. In his spare time Pete matches and cheers up all his customers. Hollywood is really glittering these days, why? Ruby Larimore is his secretary. ilinsmr’ is bubbling over! And Here comes the shooting stars; J. D. Hill, Hmiston Pyrtle, and Billy Ross. They now play for the Bethany College We Putina in the Basket” Club. When you are hungry, don ' t star yt yourself. Go to Geneva ' s corner where you can get the best hamburgers in Wentworth. The Kellam-Cox sign wi f the kinky head on top tells us that Allie and Callie Mae are now waving the jprfops of all former classmates. The new airlingz ' Tiostess for American Airlines is none other than Sudie Farrar. She really has th air these days. Milton f lley, Don Juan of the Southland is directing the Ziegfield Follies. Will wonders never cease? No, because here comes a double headed star with Susie Malloy and Ola Belle Carter holding on for dear life. Olla Belle, the prominent editor of the Nav York Times just lets Susie loaf. J. W. Morille is taking over Ellery Queen these spine-chilling nights. Being a jack-of-all- trades, lthe lawyer racket wasn ' t enough for him.
