If sm- rv- 41' X' 1 Dedication In appreciation the Annual Staff dedipates the Broncho of 1953 to certain people of the community. These certain people are those who have made the project pictured on this page possibleg who buy adver- tisements in our annuals, on our class play programs, our football programs , and support our bandg who attend our various functions, particularly those where we charge admission. This they do willing- ly because they are for a better Bethany High School and Community, even though they already support us through their taxes. 3 Harry L. Edwards - Superintendent Mr. Edwards received the title of Superintendent of Bethany High School in 1948. He re- ceived his B. S. degree at North- western of Alva and his M. A. at the University of Colorado. Mr. Edwards has been a favorite of the students-because he was always around with a helping hand when needed. Our princi- pal and superintendent, by work- ing together have made our school what we think is ideal. Administration Mr. Harper became princi- pal of Bethany High School in 1950. He has proved to be an irreplaceable person. He seems to always have time to discuss the problems of his students as well as perform his duty as principal, and also coach our basketball team, which we con- sider as the best. During his administration he has been largely responsible for many of the improvements around our school. He received his B. A. at Bethany-Peniel College and his M. S. at Oklahoma A. 8: M. College. Our first achievement was the initiation of the freshmen, which we enjoyed very much. We were very honored in having several queen candidates chosen from our class. and we also became active in politics and sports. By the end of the year we were well established in high school. Janelle Hickey Doris Homer sa Gail HOQVC1' N3l'l'3h Howard jerry Ingram Paul Johnson Our Junior year proved very eventful. Our first football team was established during this year with many in our class participating, Our Junior play also proved very successful by giving us a needed start on our Senior class fund, We experienced something new by choosing The Mardi Gras as a theme for our Junior-Senior banquet. By the end of our Junior year we were eagerly looking forward to our final year in high school. In numerous class meetings we decided on Col- orado Springs as the destination for our Senior trip, then we all became busily engaged in mak- ing money for one of the most exciting projects of our school years. Carolann Martin Rita McLaughlin Karen Neely Kenneth Owens Va Leia Parr1Sh Another highlight of our Senior year was our Senior Play which was our biggest project in raising money. This being our last year of high school we can proudly present an excellent rec- ord in our school activities as well as our scho- lastic standing. Band will probably be near by to give its support. The band is one or- ganization that is fully active during the entire school year. Our band got under way the first day of school and hustled into shape along with the football team. After cheering those boys through a very successful season, the pep band played at all the boys' home basketball games and some of the out-of-town games. The band put on its annual Coronation Concert on February 26. Once again the auditorium of B.H.S. swelled with the traditional strains of Medallion as the new Queen Carol marched down the aisle to take her place as reigning queen for the 1953 school year. On top of all the extra curricular ac- tivities Mr. Dillon has had to attend with the band, he has still found time to compose and arrange some of his own music. After many hard practices, Coach Edwards and line coach, Mel Ross, had the team running a new formation which they hoped would prove very successful in the coming season.
