Mr. Yoder discusses the movement of the radical rightists SOCIAL STUDIES Betha.ny's social science department includes four courses. World history is an elective, but U. S. history, government, and sociology are requirements for gradua- tion. In world history, usually taken during the sophomore year, past civilizations are studied to gain a clearer understanding of the problems in today's world. The juniors learn about the historical foundations of our country in U. S. history. Throughout the year, they fol- low the development and growth of the nation. Government and sociology are combined into one senior course. ln government the students study our nation's political organization and try to decide what their personal responsibility to the country and the world should be. Sociology motivates the students to do clear thinking and systematic problem-solving.
