Mrs Glass and Kindergarten group HEBREW DAY The Hebrew Day Nursery was founded in l96O to serve the needs of the Bronx community. The school is under the supervision of the Board of Health and the Day Care Health Center. Our school is set apart from most primary schools. Here we provide an atmosphere filled not only with our wonderful Hebrew heritage and culture, but one entwined with the progressive system designed to meet the needs of each child as an individual. Our children are taught to express themselves through the media of paint, clay, blocks, and other constructive materials. An appreciation for books and music is instilled in their young minds through daily exposure to songs, poems, stories, and re- cordings. Our rhythm bandaffords each child an opportunity to use simple tone instruments. Activ- ities out -of-doors expose the children to large out- door equipment which foster good physical and motor development. Nature study and educational trips are integral parts of our program. Hebrew prayers, biblical stories, and observance of all jewish holidays round out our culturally enriched program. , le: 1 Picasso move over' Mothers of tomorrow Out -of -door

This is supposed to be the money- back guarantee to pass an elementary course without doing any- thing a whole term. The only hitch is that in the last two weeks of the term you must study until two o'clock A.M. every night, and commit to memory thousands of new facts, definitions, for- mulas, etc. In plain English, you must memorize the textbook. For some youngsters, this has many advantages. It assures them of a leisurely school year and just a reasonable amount of night- mares about passing. As is to be expected, the crammed infor- mation is forgotten five minutes after the student has taken the examination . However, there is another path on the road of learning, a slower, longer, but surer way. This is the practice of daily study By this method, the student reviews daily the amount she has learned in school and remembers it. As the day of the test draws near the student does not panic. As she reviews her notes, she finds that most of the information is very familiar. She does not have to learn the whole course in a short time. As this student enters the classroom where the test is about to be given, she feels a confidence and calmness. This comes from the knowledge that she has nothing to fear, as she has done her work faithfully and thoroughly. The practice of daily study, in my opinion, not only assures a better mark on a test, but helps the student get more out of her studies. This is the real purpose and joy of learning. ITA HASS 37
