Class Prophecy As I recall, not all of our class has set the world on tire in science, education, or the arts, but there is one who is contrib- uting his part by making a perplexed world laugh. Sanders Mar- shall who was always a perfect clown in school joined Ringling Brothers shortly after he left school-head funny man now. No one would have ever dreamed of Robert Turner becoming a bachelor, would they? Well, here he is, a typical bachelor, living in the hills of Ole7 Kentucky 7 raising corn and taters for a living. I see Anni-e Carroll and Carolyn Royal now chauffeuring the library truck for Bessemer School and community. Annie was one of Mr. Steele's more talented assistants. Mildred Smith has taken Jane Russell's place in Hollywood. Her next movie is Hernando's Hideaway. Mary Helen Jenkins, who has hated men as far back as I can remember, has been married seven times and is getting a divorce next week. Who is your next prospect, Mary Helen? Anyone we know? I see Frank Bailey as Fred Astaire's partner, Dancing Feet. He floats through the air with the greatest of ease. C. B. Harnage has taken Tony Marvin's place on the Arthur Godfrey Show. Bill Huffling is still taking pictures. He now has a little camera shop all his own which is located next to Fox Studios in Hollywood. Peggy Schoolfield, better known as Legs Schoolfield, is dancing now at the Stork Club four nights weekly in New York City. She meets famous celebrities every night. Stacy Woodle has opened up a used car lot which is com- posed of Jimmy Ridge's old jalopies. Alan Wilson finally put on a little weight. If I am correct, he now weighs about 98 pounds. Nancy Allen, pianist, has her own music school. Don't tell anyone, but I think Liberace is one of her pupils! Ronald Euliss has a new job. He is the friendly undertaker at the city morgue here in Greensboro. Betty Butler is very happy these days. She and her husband, Dan, are getting along fine, but they are leaving tomorrow for a trip around the world by tramp steamer. Joan Berckman is down in Florida modeling Bikini bathing suits for a large swim suit company there. Mary Jane Smith was always a quiet little girl in school, but today things are different. She has become another Martha Raye. She is to appear on Toast of the Town Sunday night. The McGuire Sisters don't have a thing on the Soda Shop Sisters. Patsy Smith, Shirley Temple, and Peggy Spivey are fre- quently heard singing, When It's Graduation Day Down Old Bessemer Way, rated first on the Hit Parade. Two of our own little secretaries are now running a model school. These girls are Nancy Dixon and Jerry Frye. Of course, these schools are for Model secretaries. Bob Casey, the Alamance Kid, now has a feet of busses called the Alamance Unlimited going from Greensboro to Ala- mance. Step to the rear, please! Our own star end. Jack Cagle, since graduation has taken Bones Taylor's place in football. He is known as Twinkle Toes in pigskin circles. Dale Killer Kiser is the undisputed world heavyweight cham- pion boxer. He knocked out Rocky Marciano in the frst round of the title bout. Ralph Apple, a prominent lawyer, is now handling most of the criminal cases at the court house. Jake Caviness, who always had a fast, witty answer for every- thing, has to think fast now; he was arrested on the charge of hoarding Studebakers. Audrey Clark, the chewing-gum kid, seems to have gotten stronger in her likes as the years go on. She is president of the By Jackie Touchstone Bob Ingold Best- et Chewing Tobacco Co. You can find Jerry Tucker and David DeLancey on the square around December 25, in their bright red suits. Merry Christmas, Ho! Ho! Ho! Jean Lovings now designs beautiful clothes and owns a model agency in Gay Paree. Move over Yogi, here comes Ray O'Ferrell. He has already told us that you don't have a chance in baseball anymore. Teddy Strickland, Anchors Away. Jo Ann Smith is trying to sell everybody her new line of glasses; her slogan is look what they do for me. Audrey O'Ferrell and her husband, Jim, are living in Hawaii. They are raising a couple of their own little pineapples. Have you seen the new detective program on television star- ring James Bell? The name of the thriller is Private Ear. Dum- de-dum-dum!! Janette Dean has made progress at Rose's 5c 10c store. She is now the personnel manager. If you need work there's an open- ing in the stock room. Lynda Thompson and Ernestine Pruitt have taken Dorothy Kilgallen's and Arlene Francis's places on the famous TV program What's My Line. They never miss. I know most of you remember Rachel Johnson, that lovely redhead. She is starring in a motion picture entitled Gentlemen Prefer Redheads. The world's heavyweight fghter will be on TV tonight. He is none other than the muscle man, Gary Price. He has been mistaken for Gorgeous George —but that's only because he looks exactly like him. That handsome lad. Tommy Turner, is a matinee idol on Broadway. He captivates the ladies of the audience. Darlene Haymore is now the head cashier at the S. W. Cafeteria. She got a raise in sclary last week. I think her net pay is $3.00 weekly now—taxes, you know. Margaret Leach is still playing the field. When are you going to get married and settle down, Maggie? One of the contestants in the Miss America contest this year was Laura Mills, if I'm not mistaken, I think she was in 3rd place. Bob Ingold and his wife, Judy, have returned from their fabulous trip to Gay Paree. Bob, how can you afford it on your $ 10.00-a-week salary? Phoebe Brady and Ann Shephard, two of our best guards while at Bessemer are now head guards at Alcatraz. Wayland Wheaties Medley is posing for the billboards with the saying, Eat Wheaties and have good strong teeth. The new women's heavyweight wrestling crown is held by none other than Jo Ann Friend. Mildred Burke wouldn't get in the ring with her so it was a forfeit. Hawaiian Ambassador Gene Heath, went to Hawaii and has not been heard of since. The booming voice you hear on the boxing bouts is none other than Ronnie Nease. He's a well-known sportscaster. Move over, Arthur Godfrey, here comes Bobby Williams. You should see him in a grass skirt. Larry Coach Hatley returned to the Alma Mater and is head coach at Bessemer High School. His teams have won the Class A Crown for five straight years. The new C.A.P. director is none other than Shields Hunter. He has more flying hours than anyone else in the world. Harold Texas Newnam now owns Texas. He is trying to buy Oklahoma from the government—wants to expand his ranch. Richard O'Neal is majoring in engineering at State College. He also has engineered a marriage. Admiral Jimmy Taylor is now on the president's private yacht He handles all the president's vacation cruises. 26
