CLASS HISTORY September l946 A large building loomed before us, and we found ourselves entering Bessemer High School This was then year for our class We were freshmen then and no prouder group could be found Bessemer students heartily welcomed the girls and boys from Hillsville and a close friendship soon developed Such an important group as ours, of course, needed competent leaders the following officers were elected President Jess Moore Vice President Richard Conti Secretary Tena Masucci Treasurer Milan Zorinlch Class parties and dances constituted our freshmen social life Our sophomore year came and went without too much excitement We immedi ately elected class officers President Phil Tirratto Vice President Dorothy Brodesko Secretary David Verzllli Treasurer Tena Masucci A large number of the boys participated in football and basketball They also did very well in track this year Our junior year was an exciting bustling one To lead us through those 180 days of activities, problems and teacher troubles were Vice President Betty Catale Secretary Dorothy Brodesko Treasurer Tena Masucci We presented the play, SO HLLP ME, HANNAH which proved to be a delightful success Donald Tanner and Tena Masucci were starred in the leading roles and were supported by an excellent cast The year 1948 found the Bessemer high squad the football champions of the season Many of the players, naturally, came from the junior class The event of the year was the Junior Senior Prom held on May 13, 1949 A fine orchestra and beautiful decorations made it an event to remember always And then the pinnacle of our education our senior year Carrying the class through this memorable year were President Donald Tanner Vice President Richard Conti Secretary Betty Catale Treasurer Dorothy Brodesko Miss Crawford and Miss Patterson were our senior advisors, without whom very little would have been accomplished We undertook a task which no class had, for many years before us, attempted the publication of an annual and, of course we succeeded Class parties, football basketball, senior prom, and now 1t's happening We have waited twelve long, trying years for this, always talk'ng about it, but never realizing its full meaning until now Graduation!
