2 3 4 5 6 7 The Quarterback Club was started on a small but important scale during the school year 1971-1972. The located, cleared, and prepared our first football field out of a hay field. Equipment was furnished for football, basketball, baseball, and golf teams after the school had been in existance two years. The past presidents, Mr Woody Jones. Mr. Buddy Moore, Mr. Charles Campbell, along with current president, Mr. George Garner, have led this hard working group of mento do more for Bessemer Academy than we. as students, could ever repay. Because of their continuous efforts to aid our athletic program, we now have a fantastic football field, basketball goals, new bleachers, wrestling mats, and a long - awaited baseball field. Their dedication to us at Bessemer Academy has been so tremendous that we in return dedicate the 1976 Reflections to our Quarterback Club. ■ MINUTES I J SECONDSp] HOME VISITOR | □OWN TO GO QTR r 10 12 13 Mr. George Barry Norton has been at Bessemer Academy since its beginning six years ago. We now realize that this year is almost over and the fun and excitement are drawing to an end. The time has come when one wants to relive those elementary school days of taking naps, constantly drawing, and living in fear of that stool in the comer of the room. Next came our Junior High School days with separation of our friends and the making of Bessemer Academy. Then came the new school -- if being afraid of the new surroundings was not enough, being a Freshman was even worse. With this year came our first ’’Miss B.A. Pageant ', Stunt Night, and tne begining of clubs. Our sophomore year brought us the horrors and fears of Initiation. As Sophmores, we felt sad when our first senior class graduated. If we could only have realized then that we had such a short time before we would be taking that final step. In our Junior year, the band came into focus and our football, basketball and baseball teams faired well. Finally our senior year arrived with the excitement of getting Senior pictures made. ordering invitations and fitting our caps and gowns. As all these activities came to a halt, we began to realize that we had a few short weeks left. With this realization we began to look into our lives, wondering what would come next. Even as we leave Big B.A. '. with tears in our eyes, we can still look back on the memories that we have and the friendships that will last a life - time. Class Historians Greg Swindal In a series of rebirths Our previous lives echo back to call our thoughts. We leave here now visualizing our future, knowing our limitations, hoping for success, remembering our friends. Gone before we realize it was here. The senses will bring it back The early morning sleepiness The later night sleeplessness. The sound of referee's is whistles The sound of teachers, friends, books, games, fun. tests. This life now ends as we anxiously await our new lives, the beginning of life, the end of our apprenticeship. It all begins here but this will never really end --Memories never do. We will remember; we will live, love. cry, learn, but through all this we will remember our school, our friends and experiences which on quiet nights will call us back to here ... to think ... to remember . . . to smile. Class Prophets 6U!£oa Alisa Nixon Mike Blue 170 Thii page U in memory of Mike Ray and Tommy Childers. Stars are worlds like ours, - some of them less; many of them a million times greater; and some of the least sparkles that you see are not only worlds, but whole clusters of worlds turning about each other in the midst of space. We do not know what there may be in any of them; perhaps the answer to all our difficulties or the cure of all our sufferings: and yet we can never reach them; not all the skill of the craftiest of men can fit out a ship for rhe nearest of these our neighbors, nor would the life of the most aged suffice for such a journey. When a great battle has been lost or a dear friend is dead, when we are hipped or in high spirits, there they are unweariedly shining overhead. - Robert Louis Stevenson 172 173 More Kinds of Cars For More Kinds of People One Way...The Right Way Three-Day Money Back Guarantee Purchase Any New or Used Car and if You're Not 100 Satisfied, Bring It Back Within Three Days Undamaged and Get a Complete Refund.
