M FNIORIPS OP BPQSF HU H SI IIOOI My last year of hrgh school' How I have warted and longed for thls year' Four years ago, when I entered Besse Hrgh School, 1959 seemed such a long way off If I could only be a Senror I thought be rn the hrghest class rn school' To be ready to step out lnto the world to begrn hfe' Lrttle d1d l realrze that four years later I d lrke to step back rnto my fresh man class But, although I would l1ke to go through hrgh school agarn, I am even more anxrous to graduate and see what the future holds rn store for me Many events have occurred srnce that day rn September 1955, when I entered Besse I-Irgh School for the frrst trme The frrst tlung that comes to my mrnd 1S the burmng of Besse I-Irgh School the drsapporntrng srght of seerng rt gorng up rn smoke, and the fear that we wouldn t be able to graduate from rt Then I recall our happrness rn seemg rt berng rebutlt and rn attendrng II agarn I remember the plays our class has presented some good, others not so good But the fun we had rn presentrng them wxll always remarn a cherrshed memory Another event whrch w1ll always remarn rn my memory IS Iunror Prrze Speakrng Although I drdn t realrze rt then, thrs experrence was very worth whrle and w1ll prove rmmeasurably useful rn my future lrfe I thrnk of the basketball games I have attended of the teams good and bad I thrnk of the champronshrp team of 1956 57 and of the prrvrlege of cheerrng for them 1n Bangor Audrtorrum But the thrngs whrch wrll ltnger longest rn my mrnd are the clean playrng and good sportsmanshrp whrch were always mam fested by the teams Prckrng potatoes and puttrng on Senror suppers comes to my mrnd Our class workmg together toward our class trrp wrll always be a part of my memory Of course I couldn t forget the studymg But now after my hrgh school days are almost over rt doesn t seem half as bad I shall never forget my classmates, schoolmates and teachers Each one of them w1ll always have a specral place rn my memory I don t realrze yet how much I am gorng to mrss them I wrll realrze rt next fall when rt comes trme for school to start, and I won t be returnrng Wrth all these memorres, I thrnk of the mrstakes that have been made I am very drsappornted to realrze that only eleven of the slxteen students who were rn our freshman class wrll be graduatmg Maybe rf one of us had sard the rrght thrng or helped more we would have a larger graduatmg class f'1 tx 'ww' ww '1 W, 'rrwr' 'l1'1 7 I xx xx ,I 1 Ya y I ..i . 14-15. ,. .',-iKk4il.r,.,. I regret that I drdn t try harder to learn more Th1s rs the only opportunrty that we w1ll have for free educatxon rf we go on to college we shall have to pay for our educatlon When I thrnk of thrs fact I realrze that I could have accom plrshed much more As I conclude, I would 11ke to say that I am very proud of my school and of the students who attend lt I only hope that succeedrng classes wtll keep up the hrgh standards of Besse Hrgh School throughout the comrng years Mary Fuller 59 IR Il RUSH VP What IS fr1endsh1p Frlendshrp IS an affectlon toward a person that arxses from mutual esteem and understandlng of that person Frrendshlp 1S created when two people enyoy the same thmgs together Through the shaung of ex perlences and good trmes a good sound bas1s for frrendshtp rs establrshed Many frrendshrps have been drssolved when people take for granted another s frrendshrp Frlendly relatlons cease when a person allows frrendshrp to become stagnant Instead of commumng with h1s fr1ends and keepmg the acqualntance shrp al1ve, he tends to seek sattsfactlon and enjoyment elsewhere frndrng too late that I-Iappmess ltes rrght 1n your own back yard Is rt worth my t1me to make new fr1ends and understand them? The answer 15 certarnly' Even though we thmk we enjoy other thrngs more we don t stop to consrder what the world would be ltke rf we suddenly had no frrends, no one who cared whether we were happy or sad When we make a new frrend or help somebody by llstemng to thelr problems and tryrng to understand them we are actually helprng ourselves In a way we are earnmg for ourselves a mark of honor 1n our book of good deeds The abrlrty to make fr1ends 1s a good asset Usually a person who can make fr1ends easlly w1ll have a pleaslng personallty He 1S a person that people emoy berng wrth therefore he has many frrends So rf we ever wonder 1f rt s worth our trme to help and gulde others to a better fulfrllment of lrfe we should stop and thmk how dull l1fe would be 1f we were alone and had no fr1ends Thlnk of all the good tlmes we w1ll mrss we have no fr1ends wrth whom to share the fun For, only through fr1ends wrth whom we have many pleasant tlmes can we possrble lead a well rounded and normal lrfe Mane Alexander 60 ., .. , i.
