Someone asked me lf I wasn t golng to wrlte somethlng and I sald I dldn t have a word to dlS Crlbe xt That s what I wrote The elevator made some of us rather grog gy but 71 storxes wasn t enough so we went down to 34th street to the Emplre State Bulldmg 102 stor1es From there we went to Macv s and rode the escalators All of us glrls bought yo vo s at Rockefeller Center We managed to Joln the rest of the group for dmner and went off to an other broadcast Ladxes Be Seated A woman who welghed 305 pounds tap danced In the evenlng we went to Chln Lee s Nlght Club The place was llghted by Chlnese lanterns and had a xery orlental atmosphere Everyone enJoyed the food and entertamment As a practlcal yoke somt anonymous people announced the engagement of Rlta Vachon and Na thamel GIDDS After the floor show we moved along to the Fred Warmg broadcast He has h1s orchestra r1ght at the t1p of h1s baton every mln ute and hlS muslc IS even more lovely when the players are seen After the 15 mlnute broadcast every one on the stage loosened up and the fun began We laughed t1l the end of the show and practlcally all the wax to the hotel Warmg IS topsll Some of us took a stroll IH Central Park llghts ln the bulldmgs went way up tll they met the stars FAIR WEDNESDAY APRII 20 1044 Dear dlary My goodness tlme goes fast' Especlally the tlme we sleep Ill I th1nk Im gettlng used to the cra7y hours though Thls mornmg, I coul l not End one of mv shoes and nearlv mlssed breakfast We went over to Radlo Clty Muslc Hall and saw Cox er Glrl Rlta Hayworth and Geno Kelly The plcture was wonderful the IYIIISIC hall was l1ke a g,1ant sun burst and the stage show was lovely The Eastel pageant was very Ill sp1r1ng and so was the muslc I was sorry when It ended After th1s wt were conducted on a televlslon tour Sex eral of us were teleused Mlss Brennan was especlally photogemc The sound effects room was very m terestmg and also the model of the sound proof msulatlon of the bulldlng, After dlnner we went shoppmg and explorlng In the evenmg we went to the La Conga Nlht Club Poor Leo Llttlefleld kept dozmg off and mlssed practlcally all of the floor show Nat Spence went to sleep a couple of tlmes too The chlcken dlnner was very hlghlx splced and so was the muslc Brom conga tempo thex would shlft over to boogle woogle whlch at least woke everyone up Got m bed about 4 A M WARM THURSDAY APRII 21 1944 Dear dlarv Thls was our last day At 8 30 the telephone buvzed and I had to get up The horrlble th1ng about It was that all the rest of the k1ds ID my room were stlll sleepxng soundly but defimtelv Oh well I saw the Museum of Natural Hlstory I can sleep when I get home Nat Glbbs A 4 ..s.....,..,..-.,...,..,..,..,...........s..,..x.....,..,.....,..,..,..,..,..,..g........- . , , . 9 9 7 x ' ' .9 - ' 7 7 , .
