14-zz Art is the education or arrangement and construction of articles used to beautify everyday life. Various types of materials are used to bring out the creative ability of the students in works of nature and man, skill of construction and invention, and self expression through illustration and representation. This course is not only useful in leisure time, but often develops lifeis work for some people. The courses included in art education are: costume design, handicrafts, general and special art, and interior decoration. Handicraft is taught in the senior art class

Each year the number of boys enrolled in this course increases and its program is stead- ily improving. Much of the instruction in the course is given on the home farms of the boys themselves. Mediums used are pastels. tempera, charcoal, wax, oils. Mechanical drawing, one of the important phases of drawing, trains individuals for drafting which is of much local demand in industry. Whenever it is possible, work is based on needs of the community, welfare organizations, churches, and schools. Assignments of projects are made on the basis of interest and individual abilities.
