This service, which began three years ago, has been a great aid to both the student and the community. Since its instigation, the duties of the department have been constantly increasing. Each student knows that if he has a problem he can receive the needed counseling to solve it. To make the program more realistic special assemblies are pre- sented throughout the school year on guidance. The College Career Day is also made possible through this department. v Sveaker el a ephofle me WA HNF f pei1ie3,g,, Ag I 3 811 Illlfestlggfeau of College C J. This course was started in September 1953. Through the use of a dual control car, the student gains self-con- fidence in his own abilities to drive. Throughout the course the stu- dent is taught the sense of social responsibility, information and skills to reduce traffic emergencies and to keep accidents at a mini- mum. The students take the course for one semester with two periods of driving and two periods of theory a week. Statistics prove that students who have taken this course have far less accidents than others. fi 3 M ' lg C 3Y ' s we X 0 e V50 GX X me . QXSQ W' '09 . edx Na ug? - A6 H sXXl DONALD D. PETERSON Voc. Science is the great adventure of modern times and the three courses which help in this exploration are: biology, physics, and chemistry. Through the study of these courses each student is better able to understand the world around him. Because of the great demand, the science program has been changed to accommodate the junior and senior chemistry classes. Most of the senior high school mathematics courses are electives designed to give students specialized training for use in college or in their chosen fields of work. These courses include algebra, plane and solid geometry, and trigonom- etry, All students enrolled in the vocational industrial course are required to take vocational mathematics which teaches the practical application of the problems of industry. The Homecoming celebration sponsored by the Student Council was held on Saturday, November 12, 1955, to honor the alumni. A king, queen, and court were elected by the senior class for this celebration which is to be an an- nual affair. As a part of the ceremonies, awards which had been made to the players throughout the year were accepted by their parents. Merchants provided the prizes given to the king, queen, and their court. Cars were provided by local dealers and flowers by local flor- ists for the court. Recognition was given to the royal court and football players at the dance which concluded the fes- tivities.
