PHYSICAL EDUCATION PROGRAM The department of physical education aims to establish sound health habits thus helping the student become more efficient physically and mentally. lt also seeks to supply the student with fundamental skills in recreational activities that will not only be satisfying during high school years but that may be enjoyed during leisure time after high school. A minimum of two periods per week is required of all students. No student is excused from physical education classes except on the written statement of a qualified physician. Students with doctor's excuses take physical education theory. A course of three periods per week in health is required of all students in the eleventh grade. First aid is taught in the first semester and home nursing during the second semester. Students who successfully complete the work in these classes receive Red Cross First Aid Certificates. A home nursing class demon- strates feeding a patient in hed. An improvised back rest and tray made of a cardboard box are shown and also bed blocks that raise the bed to hospital bed height.
