35 5 Se-nior drafting.: class working on archilz-rturul drawin VCCATIONAL INDUSTRIAL COURSE The Vocational Industrial Course aims to fit students for successful employment in the skilled and semi-skilled trades. It also includes training in math and science. Drafting is taught and where possible this is related to the trade. Each of the three shops, welding, machine, and sheetmetal, is a well equipped laboratory in which correct skills. safe working practices, good working habits, and opportunities to plan work are provided. Students in this course must also meet the English and history requirements of the senior high school. Fifty percent of the student's time is devoted to shop work. David Manning dictates a vocabulary list to his Vocational English lll classmates.

COMMERCIAL COURSE The Connnercial Course prepares young people for jobs in business and related positions. A business educa- tion also enables students to understand and perform the inescapable business aspects of life. such as banking. taxes. social security. and insurance. Bookkeeping. economic geography. shorthand. typing. business English, commercial law. office practice. and retail selling are the subjects which make up the course. Business arithmetic and junior business training are taken by junior high school students planning to enroll in this course in senior high school. Electives may be added to the schedules of the stu- dents who desire them. Some of these are biology. band.
