Milestones of the Class of 1951 Surely the mlqhty senlors of the Class of 51 werent those lost llttle sheep who entered B H S m 19487 Remember how our eyes Wld ened and our knees shook at the ment1on of customs 7 After that week we really belonqed and It vuas fun wasnt 1t7 We soon became acquamted w1th Mxss Lucllle Cretella and Mr Paul Kllnqer class advlsers who helped qet our f1nanc1al sxtuatlon off the rocks We knew when we chose class OHQICCFS that Paul Van Houten would conduct our bus1ness alfaxrs cap Hbly w1th able ass1stance from Ethel Lutz Mary Ann Hummel and Raphael Belford Davey Pollock surpr1sed us all w1th 1n1m1table faCtlCS on the basketball court Another sports rnmded soph vsas lohn Roll who became a permanent star on Coach Denby s three teams Then sprmg came and w1th It the thr1ll of chooslnq class r1nqs We saw the senlors pre pare for the senlor drama and the prom and thouqht our day would never come' Remember how we felt when the sennors qraduated w even shed a tear for them Then the last day of school came We left B H S lookmq forward to our jumor year and we knew that we too were veterans of a wonderful battle R r1ember7 cltement over sophomore 1n1t1at1on After elec tlon day we found ohn Roll ln the presldent s cha1r w1th Ethel Lutz for asslstance Behlnd a shorthand notebook sat Mary Ann Hummel takmq notes Our pxqqy bank was IH the hands of Raphael Belford We were determxned to do somethmq about our depleted class funds Under the supervlslon of our class advlsers we beqan sell1nq everythlnq 1maq1nable m1ttens autoqraph books pms stlckers even news papers' Mr Klxnqer promlsed us each a certl f1cate of mer1t ln hlqh pressure salesmanshnpl The football f1eld was f1lled wxth color as both band and cheerleaders stepped out m new um forms The dramatxc club presented the drama Seventeenth Summer 1n wh1ch Hope Boqard a fellow junxor had the lead backed by a well chosen cast 1nclud1nq fxve more jumors The football squad won n1ne out of eleven qames 31 Eleven of the seventeen members of the basket ball team were yunlors ls that why the team won txxentv one qames and lost only three? Could be' Even more honor was bestowed upon our class as Sam Alley won the oratorxcal con test Sprmq rolled around and w1th It came the plannmq of the prom West Slde was trans formed 1nto a Hawauan roof qarden The Class of 50 thanked us for a wonderful t1me and w1shed us luck and qave us welcome advlce for our forthcommq senlor year ust thmk we wer'e qo1nq to be the b1q wheels of B H S at ast September 1950 came at last' We enjoyed the feel1nq of belnq the ones looked up to 1n stead of the ones look1nq We qreeted the poor l1ttle sophs w1th all the dlqmty and author 1tv bef1tt1nq a semor and launched another year of learn1nq and fun Because of the swell yob they dld as jL1I110I'S all of our class OHICCFS were re elected Football season was the ma1n at tractlon and we qot to work to make a lot of money for our class treasury The senlor stand commlttee tolled strenuously and althouqh we had only seven home qames we manaqed to make enouqh money to meet our commq ex penses The football team emerqed vxctorlous ln n1ne out of eleven qames We all felt a llttle blue on Thanksqzvmq when s1x senxors played thelr last qame for B H S but basketball arrxved just as football left We really cheered for our caqers as they proved to be one of the best teams m leaque competltxon Sports took a back seat after the f1rst semester We were busy choosmq class colors motto poem sonq and flower and suddenly sprxnq was here Plans for the prom our prom f1lled everyone s head and the lonq avxalted sen or fa ewell dance ca e ln qreat stvle Some of the thmfls we dmd hat mqht wlll be lonq remembered' Bacca laureate serv1ces were mspxrmq class nlqht was hrlarxous and fmally commencement our chvr 1sh d dream had come true Some of us were qlacl some sad but to all lt meant a nex road was ahead Remember?
