Text from Pages 1 - 92 of the 1961 volume:

V ' ote oteS This yearbook is presented with pride by the 60-61 Panther staff. In it we have endeavored to present a pictorial record of our school as we see it. We hope that in the future it will serve as a history book which will bring back vivid memories of a happy time. THE PANTHER STAFF Left to right: Steve Smith, Donald Carroll, Wayne Williams, Sponsor; Myra Ellett, Emma Jean Guthrie, Florene Bird, Business Manager. Standing: Gaylon Daniel, Editor. Published by BERTRAM ANNUAL STAFF BERTRAM HIGH SCHOOL Bertram, Texas 1 Many lines of type and many hours of conversation have been devoted to r,this younger generation, the juvenile delinquents, the punks and hoods; and yet, very little mention has been made of the great majority of today’s youth, those who are intelligent, respectful, and hard work- ing. It is to this later group that we proudly dedicate our 60-61 Panther. 2 J1 . vS . 4 EMMA JEAN GUTHRIE iff. When you agree, will you be able to say, Well Done, ” or will you say that you would like to live it over, so that things could have been done dif- ferently. Each of us, as he reaches adulthood, looks back on his high school years in one of these two ways. Although each of us may be difficult to convince at the time, most will fall in the group who wishes an opportunity to try again. Psychol- ogists say that if we were to move back the clock, thus moving back age and maturity, the second attempt at life would closely resemble the first. This means that maturity helps get the most out of these valuable years. Everyone likes to clas- sify himself as a mature individual. Here’s hop- ing you get your money's worth. Your teachers, your school board, and your parents dedicate the thoughts and memories in this your annual with the sincere hope that you are gaining the utmost in your educational ex- periences. Each of us is trying to make himself available to you so that you can make these years the most valuable years of your life. We all want to figure in your life . We hope that, when you have completed your school career, you will be able to look back with fond memories on Bertram High School and on those who figured in your life and studies here. C. A. Braun, Left to Right-Raymond Dale Price, Charles Barton, C. W. Smith, Dayton Reed Warden, Bendal Watson, Clayton Lester. 42 The students of Bertram High School are to be congratulated and envied. The seniors congratulated for the successful completion of a definite educational goal, the rest for the manner in which you are working toward this goal. Envied your youth, enthusiasm and the opportunities that lie before you. For each and every member of Bertram High School, I wish happiness, good health and accomplishment in the activity of your choice. EIGHTH GRADE Mrs. Frances Guthrie SEVENTH GRADE Mr, M. M.
