FOREWORD The highly technical machine above was constructed by the combined genius of the Panther staff. We tossed in a schoolbook, a report card, two show tickets, and a Kingston Trio record. Then we stirred gently with a teacher's paddle, and added an ency- clopedia, a going steady necklace, and a graduation cap. Mr. Williams threw the switch, and 84 million volts roared through the machine. Smoke rose, the lid flew open, and there it was! And here it is! Your 59-60 Panther. In the Atomic Age. educa- tional opportunities are not only important -- they are a necessity. The historians who will write about this Atomic Age in the history books of the future, will take cognizance in the impact of education on the advancement of the civilization. The PANTHER is a picture story of Bertram Schools. It is the desire of your School Board and your School Administration to give the chil- dren of this school district the educational opportunities necessary to live in this Atomic Age With your cooperation and support, we will con- tinue to build a better Bertram Independent School District.
