Howdy partner! 1 see you have opened the pages of this annual, the product of a year's work, for a picture-filled journey back through the years. As you get on the wagon, you will remember the foreman and your fellow ranch hands. All climb aboard when you look through the pictures of your friends of yesterday and today. When you get on down the trail to the sports, the organizations, the favorites and the plain ’ol school activities, you then remember the good times we all had together. If, when you reach, the end of the trip over Memory Hill , you are iiving in the good ol days again, our efforts will not have been in vain. THE EDITOR SCHOOL BOARD A © Wt n T R A O ft J. O. MCKENZIE SUPERINTENDENT Primary requirement for a good school man: that he love children. He is never too busy to talk over and replay a ball game or to listen to the problems of those he serves. He does not order but works with. His devotion to his job is evident and is an inspiration to his colleagues and to the students. ’ A °o % V? . ! ,. Q 9' leu . The highlight of the year will be an airplane trip from Austin to either San Antonio or New Mexico tor the Seniors. From these bases the boys will go on many expeditions, the entire trip lasting about a week. One or two of the Seniors will go to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. Many of the Boy Scouts are planning to attend Camp Tom Wooten on Bull Creek. These boys have been on many camping trips in the past and are planning many tor the future. The Cubs are doing some very fine work and we are very proud of them. Almost all of the boys now have a part or a whole uniform. Many of the Girl Scouts will attend the new camp Tex Lake . Martha Russel won two free weeks in camp for sending in the name Tex Lake which w'as chosen for the name of the camp. The Intermediates won a Girl Scout knife as a prize for having the largest group of parents at the meeting in Marble Falls on March 12. Many of the girls are advancing and doing some fine things. Bertram can indeed be proud of its Scout organizations and the work they are doing. We should all back the Scouts and their leaders to the fullest extent.
