CLASS PHUPHEEY It's a beautiful day here in Charlotteg my feet begin to itch and I get the feeling I want to close my office and roam. Into my helicopter I get, and go out into the wild blue yonder, out over the well cultivated fields of Mecklenburg County. Down below I recognize that old familiar walk of Tom Spratt, a fellow classmate. My mind wanders back five years ago when we were together at Berryhill with not a worry in the world. I decide to land and chat with him just for old times' sake. Tom has been around a good bit and seems to know the fate of some of the other school chums. He tells me his competitors in the farming industry are Charles Thomas, Johnny Hawfield and Joe Brown. The law firm of J. C. Peele and Charles McGee has just completed a business transaction for the Neal Baker Hosiery Mill. The able secre- taries, Margie Price, Sara McCorkle, and Kathleen Griffith of the Peele- McGee law firm, were of much help in completing this deal. Judy Frazier has just won the title of Miss North Carolina in the contest sponsored by the Sporting Goods Company of Benny Holder. The crowning of Miss North Carolina took place in Bill McGinn's Night Club, where Robert Montgomery and Jean Brown were billed as the guest singers. Jane Hatcher and Doris Greene of the Bell Telephone Company have just been promoted to chief operators. Dewey Mae Jackson, chief dietitian of the Memorial Hospital, reports that Virginia Kerly, Eloise Gardner, and Faye Pressley are the most capable nurses on the staff. Martha Davenport, pianist, and Doris Hovis, concert singer, flew to California in a plane piloted by Earl Black and Co-pilot Bill Pruette to give a concert on the West Coast. Peggy Robinson and Virginia Mattox are models for the New York clothing firm of Charles Wamsley. Leon Liles is now playing football for the Chicago Bears. Vincent Deshields has just won the title of Lucky Deshields -in a hell-driving contest at the Southern States Fairground. Carolyn Wentz is the able director of the new State Program of Christian Association. The undertaking firm of Bill Bigham has moved into its beautiful new building which was constructed by the architectural firm of Harvey Criminger. The paintings of Thelma Woods are on exhibit in Mint Museum. Bobby McSwain is now a missionary in Alaska. Charlotte's milk supply is much improved since the new dairies of Charles McGinnis and Campbell Choate have begun production and dis- tribution. Juanita Crump, radio announcer, has been added to the staff of WBT. The successful housewife, Velma Williams, visits regularly the pro- gressive beauty shop of Betty McCorkle. Bobbie Courtney is hostess for Eastern Air Lines. In checking over the roster of the Business Woman's Club, I find Becky Helms, Doris Toole, Elizabeth Nelson, Jane Smith, and Betty Jean Rape are successfully engaged in their various professions for business firms throughout Charlotte. Now that I have heard again of my old classmates, I must again take to my helicopter and get back to my business, hoping to meet again these classmates at some future date.
