MEN AT D espite serious cutbacks this year, the maintenance department has maintained the look of the school and the grounds, only through hard work. Let's take a tour of the year. When you came into the high school this year, the lockers, halls, and main office area were painted to give a fresh new outlook for the faculty and students in the '87 school year. Also, one of the difficult projects that was finished during the fall, was keeping the football field painted and mowed. The football team went 11-0 for the season, so a big shamrock was put in the middle of the field for the last game. For as small of school as we have, it looks like the nicest in the area,” stated Joe Albring, Head of Grounds. Getting into basketball, during the winter, the custodians cleaned up the gym even when it got messy. At the Buchanan basketball game it looked like a hurricane hit the gym. Man, there was confetti, shaving cream, and TP' everywhere; what a mess,” said Scott Howe, a custodian on the night crew. Lighting is another concert of the maintenance staff. Activities in the spring included the changing of ballast and lightbulbs in the library to the installation of yellow security lights on the outside of the school. Even through all the cutbacks and all the hard work they still have fun in the “house of hats as John Schuster used to call it. The shop deserves this name as there are over 400 hats in the building. Maintenance consist of Steve Rumer, Joe Albring, Wayne Wet-kowski, and Jon Harner. At the bottom, Steve Rumer, is checking to see if all his fingers are still there.

The Berrien Springs bus drivers are some of the most needed people in the schools. They pick up kids in the morning and deliver them to school and then after school they pick them up and take them home. Bus driving is not one of the easiest jobs in the school. Morning through afternoon they listen to kids unwind. You did a good job listening to us and thanks. Driving a bus is very fun and 1 enjoy the kids ' states Doris Wiatrolik a six year veteran of the busing team. Front Row — Pat Liston, Gina Bowersox, Jeannie Downs, Sandy Swartz, Gert Solmes, Louise Zech, Gary Parks. Back Row — Bette Daubert, Chuck Mead, Rhyllis Fox, Rodeny Dohm, Doris Wiatrolik, Billie Jo Baker, Barb Jacob, Lil Tinker. Bus Drivers AT THE TOP Gert Solmes is waiting patiently for the kids to board. Doris Wiatrolik is looking out the window as she waits to go home.
