JOANNE EWALT Joanne Ewalt was named valedictorian of the l954 graduating class with a perfect scholastic record. Joanne attended the Hinchman elementary school before entering here. She took the commercial course upon entering. Besides maintaining a straight A average, Joanne has been active in the Future Homemakers of America, was a member of the science club, the debate squad, and the Canoe and 'Limelight' staffs, the iunior play cast and speech play cast. Joanne's class offices were: Class secretary, freshman year, vice president, sophomore year, treasurer, of the Future Homemakers of America, iunior year, and class reporter, senior year. GERALD WEBER Jerry Weber was named salutatorian of the 'l954 graduating class with only a fraction ofa point less than a perfect record. Jerry was born in Chicago. He came to Berrien Springs in l94O, and attended the public elementary and high school here. He has been a member of the basketball squad all four years in high school, played football in his fresh- man, sophomore, and iunior years, and track team dur- ing his freshman year. Jerry's talents were well utilized by his election to many class offices: president, freshman year, vice president, sophomore year, treasurer, iunior year, and secretary, senior year.
