Lauren Hester Chosen As Homecoming Queen Lauren Hester, the youngest candidate of the Homecom- ing Court was crowned BHS Homecoming Queen for 1981- 82, on February 13, 1982. The ceremony was announced by Greg Norman and Kelli Edmonds, both seniors. All the basketball players, cheer- leaders and candidates paraded in, while Jacki Rushing pro- vided the music on piano. Candidates waited in anticipation with their escorts as the retiring queen, Beckie Durham Quinn, was escorted through the gym by Kevin Mitchell. Bethany Holt, Ben Fears and Stephanie Beacham strolled down the court, bearing roses and the crown. Finally the results were announced: third attendant, Twila York; second attendant, Lisa Fortner; first attendant, Kelly Murphy; and Lauren Hester, escorted by Bob Hughes, received the crown and cape. The night was a successful one. The “A” team won their last home game of the year in a big defeat over Malden by one point in the final second of the game.
