Italian Club This year's Italian Club was the largest and most successful in the history of Berner. Meetings were spent planning menus, making costumes, practicing dance steps, and creating decorations for the Italian Festival. The product was a feast of Italian cuisine. Entertainment was provided by members dancing the tarantella, a traditional Italian dance. The funds raised enabled the club to visit New York City to further explore the Italian heritage. CLUB OFFICERS - Brian O'Keefe, Treas., Nina Corapi, President, Sue Raiola, V. Pres., Lisa Scoleri, Sec. Latin Club f I y The Latin Club was very active this year. In addition to learning a very complex language the students studied the Latin customs, which are the basis of most cultures. A history lesson in itself, was the Saturnalia or Latin festivals, which the group visited at various high schools. In addition to going to museums and plays, the group attended a luncheon at the Atrium in Massapequa. The restaurant is modeled after ancient Roman houses. Under the guidance of Mrs. Swalgen, the members experienced many aspects of Latin culture that exist in Qui' area- Seated: Jean Oursler - V. Pres., Moira Tuohey - Pres., Nan Pesek. French Club GIANTS 1 G The French Club consisted of students interested in learning the finer aspects of the French language and culture. Through various fund-raisers, the club was able to exquisite French restaurant. The club's main objective was to eventually visit France and savour ' the French lifestyle first-hand.
