Coach Chris Sweeney credited the team's success to the large number of seniors and the dedicated juniors. Proof that hard work leads to success was their victory over Hicksville, the County Champs. Captains John Whelan, Greg Marron, and Fred Franke along with Ed Bauer, Kevin Driscoll, Andy Car- bone, Iohn Clancy, Rich Schwarz, Vinnie Ortolani, Matt Ryan, Doug Weigand, and Mark Urban led the team to the playoffs where they lost in the second round in a shoot-out. Congratulations to All County player Iohn Whelan, All Conference players Andy Carbone and Rich Schwarz, and All Division player Fred Franke. New Members Spark Effort Team Makes Count Playoff The field hockey team surprised itself by achieving great success which enabled them to qualify for the first round of the playoffs. With only four returning starters, the season seemed bleak. However, the new team members added talent and performed well in difficult situations. The team learned the skills and rules necessary to play the game, which at first were difficult to comprehend. Leading the team were senior co-captains Lisa Venturino Cforwardj, and Suzanne Leonard Cmidfielderj. Lisa Venturino and Suzanne Leonard were selected as All-County players.
