Through the many personalities of our science department, students are helped to find the answers to their questions. Ms. Saine, chairperson of the science department, teaches rigorous classes in IPS and Biology. Difficult as they are. Ms. Saine makes them interesting for students who are exploring the mysteries of physical science for the first time. It is said that if a student passes Ms. Saine's course, they'll be ready for anything. Mr. Wagner, who teaches chemistry and physics, harnesses the student's inner curiosity about the subjects and helps the student learn at his or her own speed in a less formal atmosphere. Mr. Foster, our eloquent science teacher, helps students to visualize whatever aspect of science he happens to be teaching. The students know that Mr. Foster always can be counted on for an interesting anecdote At the junior high level, Mr. Howland and Mrs. Deems prepare our budding science scholars for the rigors of their discipline. Mr. Howland takes 7th graders through the miracles of animal and plant life, while Mrs. Deems goes over many characteristics of our own changing world. ii

She enjoyed writing poetry and was active in the Lutheran Church. She will be missed. M Hoagland 17
