Sheily Furman 48 The Freshman magazine sale was very successful this year with profits exceeding those of other years. They participated in the Junior One - Act Play Contest, and sponsored a dance in the spring. This year the Sophomores held a dance in March and were in the One-Act Play Contest. Their class rings were ordered in the fall, and several chose a new square style. The sixth grade is composed of four rotating classes and one self-contained class. They have worked on social studies projects in world history and one class presented a musical play at Christmas. Seventh and eighth graders can join junior high band and choir. Both classes have interscholastic basketball teams. Sixth, seventh, and eighth grades have an activity period once a week where they may participate in several clubs, for example: cooking club, shop club, and chess club. This year for the first time, junior high has had its own Student Council. The Juniors began the year with a dance in October and a smorgasbord in November. In the spring they hosted the annual Junior One-Act Play Contest. Ending their busy year was the Junior Prom in May. 49 Room 165 ROW 1: R. Bell. H. Per-agine, P. Percy, R. Erickson, J. Correll, K. Don't be funny!” . Time out for sports. 65 (-fotcvty O OUA Cfoxss We entered seventh grade young, excited, and interested in all the hustle and bustle of High School life. This was our first year to choose Student Council representatives and class officers. We also chose class colors, white and gold. With eighth grade came our first dance. The next big step was our Freshman year. We got involved in a new activity when we entered the Junior One-Act Play Contest with Hangman's Noose. This brought one of our classmates, Terry VanDyke, a trophy for best supporting actress. We also sold magazines that year, and the best salesman was Rose Ann Willsey. Our Sophomore year brought us our chance to buy class rings. We entered Still Alarm for our One-Act Play and received the trophy for best play. We had a St. Patrick's dance in March, and a pot-of-gold was raffled off to anyone in green. The winner was our classmate Keith Edwards. The Junior Prom was the Highlight of our Junior year. It was held on May 17 at Herbert's. The king was Donald Anderson and the queen, Maureen Schwartz. We also held a Junior Dance, and we were hosts of the Junior One-Act Plays. We presented Sorry Wrong Number. We were constantly busy during our Senior year selling candy, and then candles. We also sponsored a movie and the annual Senior Auction. We held a dance in the fall, and then, to raise money, we held a Senior Quiz Show called the Quazy, Quacky Quiz Show, which included The Dating Game, Beat the Clock, Hollywood Squares, and Dealer's Choice. We also put on our Senior Play, Good Housekeeping. We voted on our Student Council representatives, and we’re very proud that classmate Carol McClelland became the first female Student Council President. The most important part of our last year in school was planning our Senior Trip. Now we're looking forward to fun-filled days on a sandy beach, sunshine ocean breezes, and laughter shared with our friends will make a perfect ending to the busy, but fulfilling years we spent in school. 66 K.
