Seldom in your lives will there be many, except in your experiences of marriage, success in employment, and family responsibility. To each of you. when you return to your high school in years to come, and you remember the hot water in the cold water lines, the many service men who wandered in and out of our classrooms, the loose nuts and bolts, no lockers, and peculiar odors, please try to recall a couple of Firsts” gleaned from the instruction presented by your teachers. Think about the knowledge they gave you. In appreciation, try during your own life to apply this philosophy to help someone else. When you have accomplished a “First” yourself, you will indeed become a happier person. 8 MRS. HAYDEN, ENGLISH MRS. MEYERS, ENGLISH MISS BRAMAN Librarian MR. Their introduction to a long list of high school activities started off successfully with a dance, a movie, and the annual magazine sale which was much more profitable than those of previous years. All these events contributed toward the fund for the New York trip, an important goal in their four remaining years. To guide us, along with Mr. Foley, we elected as class officers: Jerry Ostrander, president; Rich Sanderson, vice president; Conni Quay, secretary; and Bill Bishop, treasurer. To start our treasury we had a profitable magazine sale. To add more money and to keep our treasurer busy, we had a dance. This was the Beatnik Bop, a moneymaker and loads of fun! Everyone did the Limbo, which was iiis. dance that year. The Junior One Act Play Contest came next. We expected to win with the Patchwork Quilt - we came out of the contest with no awards. Our last event as freshmen was a movie. This didn't add to our prosperity, but at least it didn't take away any money from our funds for the New York trip just three years away. One year completed, only three to go! Bruce Bunzey, Helen Staubach, Conni Quay, and Louise Wide-man were selected as president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer. Mrs. Grippin and Miss Oliver were our advisors through that year. We had several successful events: two movies, a dance which we called Outer Limits, and a play we presented in the Junior One Act Play Contest. It was Sis of the Ozarks, and it won us some awards. We had reached the half-way mark and could now look down on the freshmen and sophomores! As juniors we had something new - three rooms ready for use in our new school: music, art, and mechanical drawing. Walking to the new building for classes gave us some liberty, and it was fun watching the school grow. Mrs. Yarmchuk and Mr. Howland guided us, along with Bill Bishop as president, Glenis Carl as vice president; Diana Arnold as secretary, and Evelyn Szesnat as treasurer. A movie was our first event, which, with the refreshments we sold, made a nice profit. Everyone enjoyed it after the difficulties of a projector were straightened out. The next event was the Junior One Act Play Contest, which we called Evening on Broadway. With The Room Upstairs, we were winners of the contest and of two awards. The last big event of the year was the Junior Prom. We called this Misty Moonlight. It didn’t earn us any money, but everyone who worked on it and all those who came enjoyed it. At last we were seniors - the first class to be seniors in our new high school! This year hasn't brought us as much freedom and free time as before. Mrs. Yarmchuk and Mr. Howland have helped us along with Rich Pasquini, president; Bruce Bunzey, vice president; Judy Quay, secretary; Maryellen Hedderman, treasurer; and Winnie Willsey, news reporter. Our main project, which started last spring and continued through our senior year, was the yearbook. This book is the result of all the time, planning, and plain hard work that went into it. Our first senior event was the Pete Williams Show, which added a large sum to our treasury. There was hardly any standing room left in our new auditorium! After the show everyone enjoyed square-dancing in our old gym. Next we held a dance entitled Battle of the Bands. Three different bands played, and the one most liked was given an award. This was fun for everybody! The Senior Play and our trip to New York are the most memorable and important activities of our last year at Berne-Knox. We hope to end this year with everyone reaching the goal we have been striving for these last four years - graduation. 69 Name Nickname Usually Found I'll Always Remember Lee Agnew Lee Typing Room Bookkeeping Class Theodore Alberts Albie With Sue Mr. Ecker Diana Arnold Diana At home Summer of '65 James Bader Jim Not at home Yearbook deadlines Robert Baker Bob Hunting The deer I missed William Bishop Bill In a Ford Sunoco station Bruce Bunzey Bruce With Linda The old school Glenis Carl Glenis With Rick Maryellen's laugh Merlin Clickman Lightning In a red bucket seat Trying to think Robert Cooper Coop Garry's Getting in trouble James Dolgowich Jim Sleeping When my car disappeared Theresa Doucette Terrie Home by the fireplace My first day at B. Through your help this publication was made possible. All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. Edmund Burke The Yearbook Staff has greatly appreciated the help given by the members of the Senior Class in the selling of advertisements and getting patrons. 128 V. v:- JZd r;v -; --4 • ■ J . ”v M ' w.
