Yes we're typical teens—Go steady—about five months—Dress up—heels for her— tie for him—We know how to drive—rely on the family bus—get it—say twice a week. We snack, watch television, listen to the radio while doing home work. We're typical high school students—We go out for sports one hundred per cent—we hold down a job—baby sit sometimes into the early hours of morning—We work in stores—garages—up late—little spare time. Our daily schedule is a familiar pattern of high school life—get up at 7:30—maybe 8:00—sometimes oversleep—ride the bus—go at break-neck speed to cafeteria for lunch—drink cokes—munch candy bars and hot dogs—now and then we order a real feed—We enjoy school but hate to admit it—study some—three hours a night—no—a week—average A”—well C —Anyway we made the grade- just—but we re satisfied because we’re THROUGH !!!! CLASS HISTORY Four years ago. we the class of '‘ 9 decided to ascend a mountain which had suddenly risen in our pathway. The mountain appeared almost too steep and rugged for young and inexperienced youths to climb, but because of our ambition, the sight ahead did not look discouraging to us. Our first fall back, which we will never forget, was Freshman initiation. At once the group organized for more efficient traveling and chose to guide us, Keith McAIhaney, President, Ron Lautzenhciser, Vice President. Anita Neuenschwander, Secretary, and Gloria Yoder. Treasurer. Because of the rugged slope that had to be climbed, some were overcome with weariness, so the class lingered awhile to enjoy a skating party and hayride. As we further continued our excursion we chose, Jan F.lzey, President, Curt I.iechty, Vice President, Sandy Keifcr, Secretary, and Anita Schindler, Treasurer. For entertainment we had another hayride and skating party, and had the honor of serving at the Junior Senior Reception. Arriving at the middle of our excursion with definite success, we kept Jan Elzey. as President, and chose Ron Lautzenhciser, Vice President. Sandy Keifer, Secretary, and Mary Eichcr, Treasurer. An important milestone reached was the receiving of our class rings. We had a skating party, and presented the play, The Boarding House Reach on March 20 and 25. We cordially entertained the Seniors at the Junior Senior Reception with the theme Festival of The Cherry Blossoms. Although our pathway was often steep and rocky, we were eager to reach the summit in order to see what awaited us there. With many mixed motions we at last started our final climb by having our graduation pictures taken. As our final class get-together we had a social gathering at Margery Moser's. During this year we published a book called Our Yesterdays” which gave the history of our four year adventure. It was purchased by our friends back home who were eager to learn of our successful trip. Backward Never, Forward Ever, became our battle cry for the remainder of the journey. The white Carnation became the symbol under which we surged forward. We chose Burnt Sienna and Ivory as our colors. Jan Elzey, again was President, August Watanabe, Vice President, Margery Moser, Sec re tar)’ and Anita Neuenschwander, Treasurer. For our Senior class play we presented The Perfect Idiot on February 17, 1959. We had to travel steadily through the Pop's Concert, class trip. Senior Day, Junior Senior Reception. Alumni Banquet, Baccalaureate and finally Commencement to reach the top by May 21, 1959. We arrived here at the appointed time. From here the view now points to further heights to be attained. We enter into our new life anticipating a climb which will be successful for each of us. The audience thoroughly enjoyed the play, which was well acted by the entire class. The play not only offered rollicking comedy but also sensible advice on the invaluable art of getting along with people. The leading roles were played by Bonnie Lehman and Neil Lehman. Patty just had to have a typewriter to type her novel and Tod, her boyfriend, agreed to borrow the new one in the school office. They aimed to take it right back but the next thing they knew a detective was investigating the theft. Patty tried to sneak it back but it was accidentally damaged. She sends her diary to the publisher instead of her novel and all the awful things her family had said about people were published. It finally all worked out for the best. The play was filled with lively fun and pep. You'll probably remember first your varied social and extracurricular activities and last your all-important curricular work. We hope that this endeavor has brought you something that will indelibly stamp upon your mind cherished memories that might fade with time, were there no reminder. We have further attempted to register, pictorially, some of the highlights of your search of knowledge, so that you may, in remembering, hear the ring of the familiar bell—the thunder of a hundred feet beating on steel tipped steps—gleeful goodbyes and the clang of locker doors at the ending of another day. 128 BBSS «««• « j ;1 i nni r ; sue ?;
