Sitting here alone in my cozy New York apartment it seems almost impossible that only ten years ago our class graduated from a small high school in the Swiss community of Berne. Indiana. I wonder where all my classmates are and what they are doing. Lately I have been quite busy designing clothes for leading manufacturers. One of these is Hanni. Inc. The other day I saw MADAME GEORGIA HAECKER modeling some of my originals for JIM HANNI. She really looked chic especially considering the fact that she is married and the mother of two longs” that are still rather short. Smiling from my dresser is a portrait of the famous actress. LUCILLE LIECHTY. which she said was painted for her by KENNY REINHARD. Here in New York we have a very fine minister. JERRY’ FLUCKIGER. He delivers messages both challenging and sincere. MYLES ELEY is a Dodger statistician and keeps things running smoothly. Thinking of traveling. I have received a short contract in Paris and in about a month I shall be leaving. June 12. 1966 Dear Diary. Today I received a very interesting letter from CLAUDIA JO AMSTUTZ. She is the head of Chicago’s Samaritan Home and is in charge of five hundred orphans. Seemingly George Gobel may as well pull up his stakes and quit TV for ANTONIO LIECHTY’ is attracting enormous TV fame as a top-notch commedian. Also in the line of TYr in Chicago. JOHN NUSSBAUM has followed the vocation of a TV technician.

Claudia met a former classmate recently who was none other than LEE SPRUNGER. Lee is the manager of the world’s largest confectionery. A small distance out of the city is KENLYN AUGSBURCER. who is teaching at the West Suburan School of Nursing, Oak Park. Illinois. June 28. 1966 Dear Diary. At last 1 am in the romantic city of Paris, France. When I flew over on one of T.W.A.'s jet-propelled planes. NANCY SMITH was the charming and attractive hostess. ROSIE YAGER is an airline stewardess for Eastern Airlines and both of them are finding hostessing as exciting as they had expected it to be. This evening I shall attend Mozart’s opera. “The Marriage of F'igaro.’’ of which LAWRENCE NEUEN. the famous opera star, has the leading role as Figaro. August 2. 1966 Dear Diary. It feels grand to be back home in Berne for my vacation. The weather is pretty hot. but BILL RUMPLE. Adams County’s Agricultural Agent, declares that it is an absolute must for the bumper corn crop which he has predicted. ROSCOE WULLIMAN owns a 300-acre estate and specializes mostly in poultry. AMOS LIECHTY, JR., owns his own feed mill and seems to be getting all Berne trade. What would you do if you came home to be met with such shocking news? DEAN HENDRICKS, BERNERD LEHMAN, and DON LLOYD are all farmers in French Township! Influence means a good deal these days. I guess. When a crisis arises, they refer to their belter halves who surprisingly (?) have a vast knowledge of farming. Right along with this time of the year comes the annual Adams County 4-H Fair. This year DICK WEAVER is judging all the livestock. One of the first things I noticed when I came home is that the Berne Witness has taken on a new front. Upon unquisition. 1 was informed that JOHN HARVEY AUGS-BURGER now does the printing. BARBARA BERTSCH PERRY has settled down in Berne and has a family of three. When she calls for them, she says. “Perry, como. Her friend. Doris Liechty, is a foreladv of the Berne Furniture Company. The new manager of the Berne Hardware, F'.I) MASON, is runing large ads in the Witness every day. His business is really prospering. MYRNA HABEGGER has been named the head nurse of Berne’s new hospital. In her staff are included SANDY GII.LIOM and RUTH ANN ZIMMERMAN, who is Berne's first lady doctor and heart specialist. KAYF1 F'LUECKIGF R is the receptionist. Visiting the school. Ye Ole Berne-French High. I noticed that several new teachers have been added to the faculty. MADELYN CLAUSER is in charge of the home economics department. TOM WILKINS is teaching all commercial subjects, and TOM EHRSAM is coaching the Bears for a champion team. What’s new in the office? BERDELL LEHMAN i the lenient principal and ANITA NUSSBAUM is his efficient secretary. The local TV station is a new attraction. GRACE HABEGGER. PAT PATTERSON, and LUELLA SCHWARTZ are all stenographers there. The news caravan is accredited to MAHI.ON GF'FJMAN, who is the news commentator. KEN NFIUF'NSCHWANDER gives the weather outlook. A helpful program for housewives is under the supervision of NANCY JO LIECHTY. August 15. 1966 Dear Diary. One of the last features in my vacation schedule is a drive to Indianapolis. Here 1 have found the remainder of our dear class. PAT FLUECKIGER STUCKY spends all her spare time singing. She reports that PAT BAUSERMAN is the first chair violinist in the Boston Pops Orchestra. LYNN SPRUNGER and LARRY SIMON are Cadillac dealers in the city and in their leisure they and DAVE HEARE help young hot rodders soup their cars up. A sports shop recently opened is under the management of PAUL BIXI.F'R. He has an unlimited selection of rifles. Well. well. I just saw LEON GOULD, who has been awarded three golden discs for his crooning. He has become quite popular with the teenagers everywhere. It all goes to show we have a little world after all. and even though each of us have been scattered far and wide, it was not quite three months until all were tracked down. And now, my Jear diary, you have seen what ten short years can do to fifty-one people.
