'IU Wad3 In the fall of ’47, twenty-seven proud Freshmen entered Berne-French High School. We elected four capable officers to guide us through the first year—Charles Nagel as president; Robert Gilliom as vice-president; Roderick Liech-ty as secretary, and George Balsiger as treasurer. The boys overruled that election. Could it be because more than one-half of our class were boys? We had two enjoyable parties, one in the school gym and also a skating party. One more important event was the initiation that was given to us by the seniors. It was one we never will forget. As we became Sophomores, we welcomed some new members into our class. We chose for president: Millard Moser; vice-president: Kenneth Isch; secretary, Janean Sprunger; and treasurer: Jack Nussbaum. We had a very nice class party in the gym of our school. Almost There! Only one step from the top—We’re Juniors! For our class officers, we chose Jack Nussbaum as president, Kenneth Isch as vice president, Janean Sprunger as secretary, and Nancy Lehman as treasurer. On February 3, we presented our Junior Class play, ‘‘Meet Me In Saint Louis,” under the direction of Miss Blanche Stone. We had a full auditorium which proves that it was a great success. On May 12, we played host to the seniors at the Junior-Senior Reception which took place in the Berne-French High School. Finally, we entered the home-stretch and the long awaited time when we could call ourselves “Seniors.” We elected the following class officers: Jack Nussbaum, president; Kenneth Isch, vice-president; Janean Sprunger, secretary; and Carolyn Bixler, treasurer. As we became Seniors we gained a new Principal. At first we thought that he would be “tough,” but we found that he is really a pretty nice “guy.” We presented our Senior Class play on April 20. “Clementine” was the title and being under the direction of Miss Blue was a big hit. Our class colors are light and Hunter dark green. Outclass flower is the yellow rose. For our class motto we have chosen “Don’t itch for success, scratch for it.” We have decided to go to Chicago, 111., for our class trip. We wish to express our gratitude to all of the teachers for their patience and kindness. We sincerely regret leaving all of our friends and most of all, good old Berne-French High! Twelve
