The Miller farm outside of East Berlin The countryside, quiet calm and serene. A fresh breeze slides over me as the leaves in the trees whisper softly. Here and there, I see a white dandelion drifting by me or I catch the fresh scent of a wild flower. In the distance, I see an old wooden fence creeping around as if to trap this beauty for itself. Now, as the sun sets, I see the cows trudging homeward in their single- file line and I am left in the twilight quiet, calm, and serene. The 1983 Eagle staff would like to dedicate Volume XXI of the Eagle to the farmers and produce growers in our school district who contribute generously to the yearbook fund each year by serving as patrons in the adver- tisement section of the yearbook. Many have a genuine interest in and concern for the abilities and interests of the students here at Bermudian; a number of them are either parents or grandparents of Bermudian students, and some were even students in the Bermudian Springs School District at one time themselves. To these people, the yearbook staff would like to say Thank you for the continued interest and support of not only the year- book, but all Bermudian Springs School Dis- trict activities. Far from the frantic and manic pace where plastic tubes of neon dance frenetically in dead-end monotonous design; Far from the dark and smoke-filled caves where dissonant tones of music bounce perfunctorily from stone deaf walls; I chance upon an open space: an alien dimension of symphonic silence and slowed serenity. I savor the solitude of greens and browns in infinite symmetry and perfect tune. And I applaud the anonymous artist whose foresight has afforded me this momentary sensory pleasure. Pat Shank - Editor In-chief; Allan Shearer - Associate Editor Each year the members of the EAGLE year- book staff are deluged with a flood of pictures to be taken, articles to be written and typed, and pages to lay out. And each year, just when the water seems to be covering the tops of everyone's heads, a miracle occurs - nobody drowns I Somehow, the work always seems to be finished in time for the deadlines and every- body receives their yearbooks in May. This year was no exception. There was the usyal procrastination resulting in last minute, after-school meetings the week before dead- lines and huge headaches for the editors. The big question running through everyone's minds was, ''Is all of this really worth it?
