HOMECUMING 1971 Second runner up escorted First runner up escorted by by Knud Hermansen' Homecoming Queen and escort Mike C00ke1'1Y- Denny Mummert. Although the day was rainy and chilly, this did not dampen the enthusiasm of the many spec - tators. lt was Homecoming 1971, the day we all were waiting for. An arousing cheer arose from the crowd, as the football team ran onto the field with great ex- pectations. The first touchdown by the Eagles as - sured everyone of a Homecoming victory. The band provided the half -time entertain- ment while the floats and queen contestants paraded around the field. The winning floats were announced, with the Freshman placing first. The juniors took second place, while the Sophomores and Seniors placed third and fourth. Finally the time everyone awaited had arrived. Second runner -up, Miss Dee Hayes was announced. First runner -up, Miss Holly Cline, and the 1971-72 Homecoming Queen was pg Miss Viv Wickline. , The game ended with a 22-8 victory over the iigoeizlfcomlng Queen Deb Irish. And to make the day complete, a Home- coming Dance was held in the gym. All in all the day was a big success. lst annual homecoming queen assembly.
