SEN ICR CLASS HISTGRY In the fall of 1951, nineteen green and eager Freshmen climbed aboard the airship Education and took off on the first leg of their four year voy- age. Maurice Mullet was chosen as pilot, Lorene Miller as co-pilot, and Jo- anne Miller as keeper of the log. The first year was rather uneventful, as most of the voyage was used to become accustomed to the hazards of flight. The fall of 1952 saw the entire crew of nineteen return to resume their flight. The plane's officers for the year were: Faith Kieffaber, pilot, Elsie Yoder, co-pilot, and Mary Stutzman, chief bookl-zeeper. Shortly before the end of the flight, Peter Dauwalder decided he had enough education and bailed out. Thus the second flight ended with a crew of eighteen. In September of 1953, all eighteen members once again took off for the third lap of the journey. This year found Maurice Mullet as pilot, Lorene Miller as co-pilot, and Rose Marie Schmid as chief bookkeeper and fmancier. This year was full of many business ventures. Among them were such things as selling vanilla, sponsoring a festival, producing the play The Boarding House Reach , and publishing the book entitled THE TRAIL. They also fa- vored the Seniors with a banquet, which followed the theme Moonlight and Roses. During the year they lost another member when David Hen- sley decided that he had, had enough education. In the fall of 1954, only sixteen returned for the final leg of the jour- ney. Fran Kauffman had gone to summer school and was now attending Gos- hen College. Maurice Mullet was again given the duties of pilot with Joan Kaser taking over as co-pilot. The keeper of the log was Faith Kieffaber. Their last year was an interesting one and wwas filled with. many activities. They produced another hit play, which was entitled, Its Great To Be Cra- zy. They had charge of the concession stand at the home basketball games and also at a sale. They also conducted a paper drive, had a bake sale, and sponsored a Talent Show.
