HOME OF BERLIN INDIANS KEY CLUB OUR POT OF GOLD August 25. 1980 was a day of anticipation, not only about new classes and new friends, but also about the new principal, Bob Ganka, who recently replaced George Doll. Ganka was born and raised in Eau Claire. He at- tended Regis High School where he participated m football, basketball, and track all four years. His senior year, the basketball team was second m the state for Catholic schools and he was on the all-star team. After his high school career, Ganka attended Eau Claire University where he majored in English and minored in physical education. During his college years he attended officers training for the Ma- rines. In 1969, while coaching football at De Soto, he was voted coach of the year in that area Ganka was the former assistant principal at To- mah, a position he held for four years. Before this, he taught English and coached both football and track for seven years. Ganka feels that the main purpose of high school is to educate the total person academically, emo- tionally, and socially. One of his personal goals is to develope a good relationship with the kids and to help them with whatever problems they may have. His plans for the future are indefinite but says he will stay in Berlin for as long as he feels welcome and needed. Ganka says that great strides have been taken in curriculum and in special education at B.H.S., but there's still much to be done I feel very positive about Berlin, we have a good staff and good bunch of kids,” concludes Ganka. 7 FRESHMEN 1984 J. For 4 years of high school, all of us have been through cloudy days. Some have influenced our lives while other storms have brought challenges. While you look back at your years at BHS we hope the memories you find will help color your rainbow. 109 Ill Chasing rainbows. At the end of each one there’s a pot of gold, and this one is yours.
