RAYMOND KINZIGER The 1975-1976 school year marks the arrival of Mr. Ray Kinziger, superintendent of Berlin School System. Mr. Kinziger was born in Lena, a small northeastern Wisconsin town. He attended Coleman High School for two years and finished his high school education at Gladstone, Michigan. He was active in athletics such as track, football and basketball. He was also a letterman and a member of Student Council. He began his col- lege education at the University of Wisconsin—Madison. He also attended Oshkosh State, Colorado State, Reed Colorado, Portland Oregon and the Univesrity of Massachusetts. His first teaching assignment was in Mequon where he taught 8th grade for one year. Next he taught social studies in Markesan and also coached football and basketball. He concluded his teaching career in Appleton where he taught Psychology and was head coach of the track team. Mr. Kinziger received his masters degree in administration and took on the task as principal of Grafton High School. Mr. Kinziger has two children, Karen, a first grader at Clay Lamberton and Steve, a senior at Berlin High. Hunting, fishing and boating are only a few of his many outdoor hobbies. Mr. Kinziger enjoys Berlin because of the small city atmosphere. 2 Four short years ago we, the class of '76, entered Berlin High. The big dream of being a senior seemed far off, but as we had been told, it came faster than expected. Today that dream, as well as our years at BHS remain only as memories. As freshmen we had spirit and it showed. Above our bleachers hung the sign, Roll Out The Carpet, Pick Up The Sticks, Cause We're The Class Of '76! Tying for second place on our Homecoming float with The Indians Smell A Bear Defeat, confirmed our enthusiasm. A turnabout, held during our freshmen year, gave even the most bashful girl a chance to ask out the guy she liked. Our senior year seemed too far off to worry about so we enjoyed being freshmen, but in the back of our minds we dimly realized that Our Day Will Come . With our sophomore year, came assurance—more confidence in ourselves. We celebrated Homecoming with success; again our float, with the them of Looks Like We're Going To Dunk'em Donut? received a second. During our sophomore year we also had the experience of Biology class which meant disecting frogs and taking our own blood samples. All these experiences bring back many funny memories and others, best left forgotten. When our second year was over, we knew we were half through. Where had the time gone? Only two years left. Our junior year was probably the most exciting thus far in high school. The school year had barely begun and again we fared well in the homecoming competition. This year our float received a first with the theme of Hay, Let's All Pilch In For A Victory . The highlight of our junior year was Prom. After deciding on the theme of Fantasy, the colors of light and dark blue, and the song, Stairway to Heaven , we set to work. We painted murals of a park; brought in a real swingset, constructed a new bridge, hung streamers, and in the center of the gym set a life size wishing well with floating flowers. Perfectly decorated we thought, for our court. Queen, and King. Finally it was 1975 and the special year we had been waiting for. Our last homecoming was our biggest and best with four firsts and one second. Our float, based on Jaws featured a shark, eating a beheaded Bulldog with the theme, 'Jaws' Give Us A chance. We'll 'Behead' In the 'Fin'ish! At the pep assembly, Mr. and Miss Berlin were named. On December 21 of our senior year, the band performed a pregame and a halftime show at the Green Bay Packer Game in Green Bay. Many things have happened in our high school years; too many to name here. We will never pass this way again. We realized that from the beginning so we made the mos t of these years. However, our lives are not ending; they are just beginning, but no matter how far we go, our memories will always be with us. Right now though, We're Only Just Begun To Live . BERLIN’S BRAINS Row 1: Fred Yankowski, Jerry Mathers, Randy Behm, Patti Deppe, Sharon Piotrowski Row 2: Sara Younglove, Terri Eggert Row 3: Cindy Meyer, Sharon Kretzmann, Heidi Moldenhauer, Nancy Spirra, Terri Schroeder, Kris Janssen, Sue Rodgers, Sue Keller, Ann Polka (Missing Patti Chier, Steve Kinziger) The top 10% of the senior class are designated as honors. The traditional Valedicto- rian and Salutatorian are no longer selected. The School feels that this will give more equal recognition to all of the students that have achieved such high scholastic performance. This young team, having no seniors on it, was able to play their home meets on the new Mascoutin Golf Course. Whether or not this added to their success is not known but next years team will be quite strong since five players lettered this year. Noon hours cut short and extra practices, made many students think Is it all going to be worth it? But Mr. Kramer kept pushing for us--and in 15° weather, we saw that it was all worth it . Now that it's over, we would all like to thank him. Few people realize all the time, and pressure that went into the show on his part to make it go. We put up with a few of his bad days, but he put up with all our complaining—and we appreciate, and respect him for it. Performing before 56,000 people is probably a one time thing for any of us, and Mr. Kramer made it all possible. sz CHORUS Row 1: P. Grahn, W. Guldan, D. Pick, L. Wil$on P. Kramer, C. Kuharski, K.
