Text from Pages 1 - 128 of the 1973 volume:

High School VALEDICTORIAN For the memories and for friends who have been faithful in good times and bad, am thankful For the patience, help, and guidance of my teachers, advisors, and the administration, would like to express my appreciation For my parents, members of my church and community who have given me their support and encouragement, am indebted For the knowledge that I have gained through academic and extra-curricular activities am grateful For the success of my fellow classmates in their future plans, am hopeful To be a member of and to represent the Class of 73 as Valedictorian, am honored - Lynn Petters • Our four years are finally over. We are finished with high school, and now we can face life on our own. Hope- fully, our schooling has effectively equipped us to lead a successful, satisfying life. Although we may not now fully appreciate our education, eventually we will realize how important and education really is in our society. Education, in order to remain effective, needs every- one's help. In order for it to grow, there must be increased understanding, respect, and trust on the sides of both administration and students. Once we graduate, we cannot simply forget our schools; we must continue to be involved with them as concerned citizens. We are responsible for the quality of education future generations receive. For me, my high school years have been a time to learn and grow. I am grateful for the many opportunities such an education will provide, and I would like to thank the people who have helped me earn the honor of saluta- torian of my class. • Zoe Spirra • SALUTATOR I AN MARK RESOP American Legion Citizenship Honors - Scholastic MARI KECK American Legion Auxiliary D. It was disappointing in that we didn't win the conference championship. The season was rewarding because we avenged all but one of last years losses, and finished in second place. But this team won't be remembered by what place we won, or the scores, but by the memories and experiences gained by both the players and coaches. I learned a lot. My only regret is that this was my last year. -Tony Nowak • «v p3aSSSu fit - frh Eft V. J u N I 0 R V A R S I T Y Row 1: S. Young. T. Brooks. C. Alf . B. Thrasher, T. Kuklmski, E. Wucherer. C. After winning only one of their first fourteen games they came back and won three of their last six games. The varsity team seemed to be constantly plagued with fourth quarter miseries, often hitting a cold streak at the end. The final three victories came on back-to-back wins over Omro (71-58) and Campbellsport (66-64), with the final victory in the opening round of the tournament beating Wautoma (62 47). With a team of mostly Juniors, which showed much improvement at the end of the season, we can look for a better record next year. Row 1: Mgr. J. Stetter, Coach Moser. Mgr. F. Yankowski Row 2: R. They beat us all three times and that was half of our losses. It was the year that we got our new uniforms and became the best looking team in the state. It was the year that WISS started to carry all our games on the air and it was the year we became the first high school in the state to have Bat Girls. It was the year that we had juniors with a lot of young, eager, ability mixed with seniors with a lot of heart and desire to work and to' win. ii mi — — —. IE 8 It was the team that enjoyed baseball and practice and played that way. It was not the team with the most raw ability that Berlin has had or will have but it could rank as the most spirited and enthusiastic. ■ Coach Tollakson - TRACK '73 TRACK - 1973 Back-L. to R.: R.
