BECAUSE ALL MEN ARE BROTHERS VALEDICTORIAN It is often said that in order to survive and thrive in our increasingly hectic world, one needs a good formal education. I agree with this statement, but with some limita- tions. “Book learning” presents us with the knowledge of past generations so that we may build upon their discoveries. However, if this is the only reward of high school, we are not human — we are cyborgs. Perhaps as important as this kind of education is the learning to live with and accept one another, as well as oneself. I, and most of my peers, have only begun to learn this lesson of living. I sincerely hope that we may learn both lessons well. I deeply thank my parents, friends, class- mates, teachers, and the administration for the growth we have shared, even though I did not always appreciate them. DAVID SECORA SALUTATORIAN High school, to me, has been exactly what it was meant to be — a learning ex- perience. The academic aspects have proved to be very enlightening, but equally impor- tant to me, have been my experiences in dealing with people. These experiences have taught me, above all else, the importance of respect for property, teachers, parents, and friends. Being named Salutatorian is a great honor for me. I wish to thank my parents, teachers, and friends for their guidance and support and would especially like to thank the madrigal who, because of their never ending energy and spirit, have taught me the meaning of our motto, “Because all men are brothers.” JEAN JANES CLASS COLOR RED and WHITE CLASS MOTTO BECAUSE ALL MEN ARE BROTHERS CLASS SONG SOUND OF SILENCE
