Editors The Two of Us Diane Wildermuth, Barbara Kretzmann In order that students might work together in a relaxing atmosphere, a new system has been set up during the students' free period. Students are able to go to the cafeteria, or may go to study hall. Students who want to visit can do so without interrupting those who want to work. The library will be expanded and in use by the 1969-70 school year. Several new fire doors were installed this year to provide better protection in the event of a fire. Tennis has again been added to Berlin High's list of sports. The coach is Mr. Knoke. New courts were furnished on the lower campus for the team to use. There were two other coaching changes made this year. Mr. Tollackson now leads the baseball team, while Mr. Anderson is the track coach. Berlin High again presented a talent show. The co-chairmen were Jayne Stowelland John Olson. The class trip this year will go as far west as the Yellowstone National Park. The travelers will leave on June 6 and return on June 12. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Wahlers for his help in putting this year's Mascoutin together. We hope that the 1969 Mascoutin will help keep the past alive, and in future years will bring back the fondest of memories. As we enter this world, let us hope that peace will begin with us. Diane Wildermuth and Barb Kretzmann Co-editors

In Memoriam Roberta Beck Nineteen sixty-five was four years ago, a long time to some, but a relatively short time to most. It was the year we all started out together as ignorant freshmen, thinking the time for graduation would never come. But here that time is and here we are--minus three. Beforetwo fatal automobile accidents claimed their lives, no one thought that these, our very own friends, would not carry out their hopes, dreams, and plans for the future. No one knew Roberta Beck, Tim Polakowski, and Jack Swerzinske would not be in our graduating class of '69. Yes, it's sad to realize that these youths will never receive their diplomas. They'll never be able to go out into the world and fulfill their plans for tomorrow because for them there is no to- morrow-here. But maybe, on the other hand, that's all the better. They'll never have to face up to the evils of money. Or race to keep up with the Jones's . But either way, the students of Berlin High will never forget Roberta, Jack, or Tim. And we, the editors of Mascoutin 1969, would deeply and sincerely like to dedicate this in memoriam to them-- our friends. Retiring this year, are Mrs. Clifford Stevenson, principal of the Poy Sippi School and Mrs. Elsie Madison, who has taught at Record School, Auroraville, and Poy Sippi. We wish to thank them for pursuing their careers as teachers in our school system. In Mrs. Clifford Stevenson Mrs. Elsie Madison
