Principal 1926to 1968 spans an interesting forty-two years in the field of public education. I was a part of it and witnessed many new innovations appearing on the educational front. Many of them were tried and discarded, but the basic purpose of all of them was to find new ways to improve the means of helping young people to become better educated. As principal, I have been concerned with keeping our curriculum or course offerings in line with the changing times. The plain fact, that our 1968 graduates are only thirty-two years away from the 21st century is a challenge to any teacher or administrator. Our graduates are now living in a world where something is new today and outdated tomorrow. We will need to prepare our graduates to realize that they are living in a fast changing world, a world in which they will need to retool their job opportunities several times during a life time. If our schools can prepare them for this change, then we have accomplished much to their future security. I have many pleasant memories of my lifes work in the education field, and I find that the greatest reward comes from students who have gone out and have been successful in their pro- fessions and businesses, who then realize more and more the importance of the help given them by their teachers.
